I have a little Massey Harris that I thought was a 102jr, but the serial # doesn't appear on any listings. I cleaned the number plate of paint, and revealed that it is a "102US". How do I determine what year it is? And what, if any, difference is there to a regular 102jr?

I don't think it is a U in that number, maybe a G which would indicate Gas I believe. The S would refer to a standard (wide, non-adjustable) front wheel configuration I believe. It is also hand stamped into the upper machined surface of the transmission, right beside the clutch pedal. Big letters and numbers there but often not stamped too deep so cleaning off the paint and crud is necessary to see it.

It's definitely a "U"! And the serial # is outside the range of possible numbers listed on Tractordata. 382xxx, where the lowest on Tractordata is a 387xxx for a 1939.

By the way, i found the number on the transmission case and it matches the one on the ID plate, Thanks!

Excuse the double post! I looked closely at the stamping on the transmission case and it appears to be a "J", with an S and an E.

I guess the S is there, I assume that means Standard (wide) front axle, which it has. Any ideas on the J or E? Or the early serial number?
