drug the old J.D. disc out of the weeds and put it to work. this is the same set up that I was discing with 53 years ago when dad bought his 560 in 1967. I was 10 years old. this old disc seamed to do a good job so I just kept on going for about 6 hrs. 10 ft. but it still covered a lot of ground. greased the boxings up a couple times too , just like the old days.

I'm not sure that those "old style" boxing's weren't as good as what's considered to be better "modern" sealed bearings in use today. If they were kept greased they were more trouble free than much of what is in use today, in my humble opinion.

I was thinking the same thing today dragging it around,... least don't have to worry about brgs going. lol. nothing wrong with that set up if kept greased.

Compared to the disks made today they are a sorry excuse of a disk. And yes we have one. Has the bearings in 2 halves you have to put between the brace rods as you let it down after changing the disc's on it. The cutting action of our 30ft sunflower is so much better. That old KBA will just roll over a corn stalk without cutting it. Ours is 12 foot H will not pull it and the old Cat just played with it. Those pins that hold the frame in the gangs were a pain if they came out.

Ooh yes I have spent hours changing gang bearings on big modern disk,, but for the time they were made the KBA's did a good job..

I would hate to buy a set of blades for that set up. Looks like that's made to cover a lot of ground. Stan

Kba is a secondary tillage disc if you want A disc that cuts like a modern disc you need to get a John Deere killefer disc

I would hate to put new discs on that would be a lot of work and money . I found it out on a big dry farm

KBA was a horrible disk very difficult to level and couldn’t pull it down the road over 5mph with out it swaying all over the place

If it needs repairs I’d Sell as scrap metal

Don’t wast your time.

If you could not get it to level whoever was trying to do it did not know what they were doing and very easy to control that problem on road. They were a very good disk. Problem was the operator.

I wasn't happy with mine for leveling for seeding. I controlled the "sashaying" on the road with a load strap between the gangs. I paid $300.00 for it, replaced most of one row of discs and a couple axles, used it for ten years and sold it for $350.00.
