Re: Need some thought on this project.

I have been going crazy on this 1972 I.H. skid steer loader model 3200 engine a Wisconsin V-4 air cooled. I have lost my mind what is wrong with the Hydraulic loader control valve system. The book show one thing but in yet the system does a different thing. In the picture I post on page 2-14 shows a plug on the Special power beyond plug here for 3 valves. Some body who use to own this had put another hose to it in this area that connects to the other hose on top which is the out let. when I disconnect and plug that port up I get not enough power to operate this skid steer. I wonder is this Loader control Valve unit bad or any good. Any thoughts would be a big help. If I have to get another unit what model should I be buying for this loader. Thanks.

I don't think I would change anything without determining what goes where. It might make it easier on us if you would mark the picture where each hose goes. Myself I would be inclined to believe there is an issue with the control valve itself. Surely it worked like that at some time or another.

I have a tractor I took the front loader off because slowly the control valve deteriorated to the point where you couldn't raise the bucket at all. Right before it went out you had to keep one hand on the control valve holding the bucket up in order to drive the tractor around.

At first I thought the same that you have posted your answer. I have spent months in trying to determine why this valve unit require an extra out put in this one area. Every thing I try to determine how to fix it appears to need more to it that is not here on this equipment. the books shows some thing different that what I have. Instead I still have a hug hydraulic leak because the hose ends are not threat to the pipe to the bottom tank. the Schematic on the hydraulics is here sorry I thought I posted it.AS you can see I am using a port that shows it is not being used.

The only thing I can make sense of is the hose you have tagged with a blue tape is a return line which should go to the fluid reservoir. In the second picture there is a reference to a screen filter on the reservoir. Often when you have hydraulic problems it is because that screen is plugged up. You don't have to replace it. It's just a metal screen that can be washed out with a solvent and sometimes blown out with compressed air afterwards.
