How to thicken tar?

I bought some tar with fiber from home
depot but it is still way to thin. I used
to get it a long time ago and it was much
thicker. This stuff just runs everywhere.
Is there anything that will thicken it up?

What is the HD " tar" intended use vs desired use?

I suspect it is roof coating, meant to be mopped on?

Maybe use some chopped fiber used as concrete slab additive?

Sounds like you git roof coating and you wanted roof cement. Big difference in thickness.

If you bought driveway crack filler in the gallon jug it pours out through the nozzle so it is thin, but it does set up in a few hours.

Probably has a water emulsion base. It might be asphalt topping, which is intended to run. Either way letting it evaporate water out of it will work. Put some in a tin can about 1/4 inch thick and let it sit for 2 daysto see if it gets stiffer. Jim

Thanks for the replies! Looks like I bought the wrong kind of tar. Ha I might try the sawdust idea or maybe let it evaporate idea. Don't have any fiberglass fibers. Thanks everyone.
