Rear Tractor Tires

I have 14.9x24 Titans on the rear of my MF 135, had one split a side wall after I had them for 3 years. They guy who I had put a boot in it said they are kind of hit, and miss on quality.

Firestone lost me as a tractor tire customer 25 years ago. Were totally junk at that time and company would not do a thing about them.

I have some BKT 12.4 x 28 with about 700 hours of field work and tractor rides. they are holding up very well.

I always buy Crop Max. It?s same mold as Firestone only
difference is name. I have one each on tractor and can?t see
any difference. BKT and other China tires are not same in size
as America tires.

firestone is still the top of the line tire. I just replaced the rears on my 2-85 white with 18.4 38 firestone. was thinking of BKT but advise from tire man kinda confermed what I was afraid of. bkt is a cheaper buy, but rubber quality is not the same.he said some are coming in with cracks now. over time they will develop cracks. so if you want a tire for 10 or more years I still say firestone, no problem to get 30 years out of them unless you wear them out in a field tractor. if you want for short term use then go cheap tires.

I've had two sets of BKT's ,13.6-38 on a feed wagon tractor (wear well) and 14.9-30 radials as front drives on a 160hp Ford (seem a little more prone to stalk damage but are wearing as well as more expensive Firestones. Had 3 sets of Firestone Deep Treads 18.4-42 radials on this tractor but went to Michelin for last set because they wear so much better for road work pulling wagons and spreaders and are about $400/tire cheaper.

Tire dealer recommended a Alliance tire for my
haying tractor, only 3 or 4 seasons on it, but so far
so good.

I would stay away from a tire called Akuret. Got a set that seem to have a problem with causing small holes in the tube meaning a flat or leaking tire. Currently one is loaded and fine the other I drained and used an old tube for a liner to protect the current tube from problems. The inside of the tire looked like the inside rubber was very thin to the point of barely covering the fibers inside of the tire. I had a couple tubes put in then did the last one myself with the old tube glued to the one holding the air in. I also added about 750 pounds of weights in place or the fluid. Been a couple of years since the tube lining was put in and a year for the weights.

I have heard a lot of good about the BKTs I had a pair of Galaxies that started to crack in front of the lugs after only two years. If you have the coin you can't go wrong with Firestones.

I have Alliance 14.9-28 on my 4000SU, decent tire for the price, good traction and wear, hasn't been roaded much, only issue I'm seeing is at 10-11 years old there is a good amount of dry checking, will probably have to replace them in the next 4-5 years, hopefully not sooner.
I have Firestone 16.9-30 SATII on my 4000, excellent traction but don't road well at all, 8 years old and their narrow bars are over half worn, wish they still made the Traction Field and Road, that was a good tire, have a set on my 4500 that are 30 years old.
Nephew has had good luck with the BKT's he's running on his tractors.
Another brand to look at is Mitas, recently purchased a set of 16.9R34 radials, European brand but mine were made in Iowa, haven't used them enough to say how they perform or hold up.
Took a set of 8 year old Michelins off last year due to sidewall cracking, after 9 flats in 4 years I'm done with Michelins.

If you do a good bit of road traveling consider getting radials, twice the cost but wear three times longer.

I have a set of alliance on my 3020 and they are cracking
really bad In front of the lugs only 3 years old
