Hello everyone, I recently purchased my first tractor. It is a Ford 3600.
Can anyone tell me anything about it?
Stamped on the side of tractor near rear axle is
D 5 NN 7008 N

Stamped on the side of tractor near the starter is
D5NN6015F

Does this mean that someone built my tractor using parts from two tractors?

It also has a leaking axle on the right rear that I need to repair. After I jacked up & removed the tire...I noticed that the axle had a lot of movement in & out.
After removing the axle, the seal and bearing looks good but it appears that the bearing isn't setting to the bearing race all the way.

NOTE: There is a large nut behind the bearing. Is it possible that it needs tightening?

Here is an image of the axle...

One of the smartest things you can do is to find a set of manuals for your tractor. A set includes the Owners, Shop or Repair, and Parts manuals. The parts manual is
useful even if you never order parts out of it as you can usually see the relationship of the parts and how they go together in the exploded views these manuals have. The
other manuals will teach you how your tractor works and how to maintain it.

Thanks for the advice... I do have a owners manual and a Ford Shop Manual for 2000, 3000 and 4000 (prior to 1975).

I don't have a parts manual and will look into getting one of them.

30U welcome to YT! Congratulations on being a new poster here and being able to post a picture here right off,
many folks struggle with that. I am not much of a Ford guy and I have no idea of your mechanical repair
knowledge level. But if that is the seal surface beyond that nut I would suggest polishing it up good with 320 grit
emery cloth before reassembling. See the link, many parts stores will sell it to you by the foot. Use the tape in a shoe shine fashion working all around the circumference. Sorry, if this
obvious to you it sure looks rough in the photo. Also can?t help you with the axle end play setting.
