OT, Looking back on this mother's day.

I was married for 28 years. The mother of my 2 children passed 20 years ago. Looking back I had a woman that never questioned my decisions. Once she was asked why she allows me to buy tools. Her reply, "If I didn't need them I wouldn't have bought them."
She realized that having tools saved us money on repairs.

As the sand in my hour glass has more sand at the bottom that on the top. I look back at my life. My effete should read, "I did it My way."

I still buy things and never ask for anyone's permission. That includes buying 5 tractors.

Wish your mother or wife "Happy Mother's day" and appreciate them while you can.

Sad to hear that about your wife.

My wife knows I do not buy tools for the sake of having tools. I use them. I like to think we have saved a lot of money by us doing our own work. Fix things whenever and wherever we can.

Contruction background with electronic and electrical experience helps. That and owning beater cars that always need something, mechanical skills acquired by the nature of the cars we drive.

I'm like you, background in electronic and mechanical skills. In my younger years I drove beater cars and trucks. Parts were expensive so I rebuilt starters, alternators, engines. I Went shopping for used parts at auto salvage.
Auto Zone was a game changer, parts were cheaper and they came with lifetime warranty.
Auto Zone put a lot of private parts stores charging outrageous prices and no warranty.

I had to retire 16 years ago before I bought my first new car. Since then I've bought a new Kubota, a second new Cadillac and GMC truck. Life is good and good memories.
