Oliver 88 seat torsion spring replacement

I am attempting to replace the seat torsion springs on my Oliver 88, I am having trouble getting the holes lined up to insert the pins and bolts. If I play with the height of the seat assembly I can get the holes to line up for one of the springs but not both of them this is the early style torsion spring seat. Any advice on how I can line up everything correctly? I had to use a torch to take the old springs off so I cannot use the originals as an example.

I have never done any. Mine all have a wood block under the seat. I'm to cheap to replace them.
