Plow landside question

They usually wear more at the back end. When worn pretty much off at the back I replace or rebuild them. You can cut off the worn spot and weld in a new piece to get a bit more use. Probably can't find a new one for a lot of old plows so may be your only fix.

Wear is usually a bit more at the rear and bottom. I think they should be replaced when about 3/16 thick at that bottom rear edge. as they wear the plow will tend to try to move in the direction the sides are located. To the left on a plow turning soil to the right. This can affect the width of the first bottom cut, and possibly put right turn pushing on the front of the tractor. Jim

If they look obviously worn, they are. Sharp edges is definitely past due. or as said above. I have welded them up,scabbed an old plowshare,or built completely new ones. Anything is better than totally shot.

svcummins has it right. Go until it is going to start wearing the frog. The bottom rear corner wears first. On my JD. 2800 You can turn them top to bottom and inside out essentially wearing all 4 corners down before replace.

SV is right. If you start to see any wear on the frog,be it share,shin,landside,or?.. It's time to replace.
