Good afternoon all, I have a John Deere 435 Diesel, 1959 model. Detriot Diesel, turbo charged. 33 hp at pto-27 hp at drawbar. I'm totally new to the area of plows. Which would be best fit for this tractor or 2 moldboard or 3 moldboard based on tractor specs? Tractor is complete. Just waiting on some shows to start appearing on the tractor boards. Thanking you all in advance. Wingnut

Much depends on the soil type you intend to use it on. Light soil, like Sandy loam or already turned light black soil. a three might work. But I would not go there, even in a 14" bottom plow. A 2-14 plow is realistic. Jim

For an easy to pull plow, find another brand. An Oliver or White, IH or even a MF will pull easier and, in my opinion, do a better job.

By the way, that 2-53 Detroit doesn't have a turbocharger. That is a gear driven blower. All Detroit 2 strokes had them.

Agree. An Oliver/White or an IH 2-14 plow is the way to go unless you?re plowing sandy loam then a 3 bottom. Either plow would be much better than a JD plow. Speaking from experience here.

This JD 520 of mine has 18.4 x 30 Rubber.....loaded..more HP than a JD 435..

I plough as deep as it will pull the 2 bottom plough in 3 rd gear.. at times shift down to 2 nd gear..

As Janicholson ...type of soil conditions ...

My JD 520 and my MF 35 X Diesel handle a plough about the same... MF 35 X has differential rear lock...so three 14's is the plough the MF 35 X pulls..

Forgot to add that the subject plow would be for mostly for showing with tractor. If mis matching is not taboo I guess I can also go that route. Btw..... Sorry for labeling the engine turbo charged. Tractor data.com shows supercharged. Wingnut

People who couldn't care enough about farming to bother making a garden do not care about a mismatched tractor and implement. As they walk by the child might say "green!!" The parent is going for the Cheese Curd stand, or toilet. Those who do, and would bother to discuss your interesting tractor (and it is because of the 2 stroke) do care about the mismatch. kinda like putting a 5th wheel adapter in a Subaru Brat. Besides you could actually use it and that is a very good experience. Jim

Does it have a 3 point hitch this if a F130 John Deere it has a lot more trash clearness than my 3x14 international does . Also pulled a melroe plow with Oliver bottoms and it doesn?t pull Any better than the 3600 John that replaced it . Both 6 bottom on land plows. I need to widen the rear wheels about 4 inches to get the right width to do a perfect job a plow is a primary tillage tool not a seedbed maker .

I was
preparing to be a first time shower, parader, etc since Nov 2019.... The virus came down upon us to shut that dream down. I've been planting a tractor garden for many years. My garden tractor is a 2012 Kubota L3200. In the neighbor of 32 hp for the sake of conversation.

Oh yes, The JD 435 does have 3 point hitch. Also has live pto which may be handle if I decide to later send her to the field. Thank you all for great information. I'm sure I'll be posting a lot more. My JD H is nearly done. Then 2 more after the H. I'm leaving the H in her work clothes. She's super straight.

Don't drink the kool aid on some plows pulling easier than other brands. Get a 2-14 mounted.JD plow. It will look better with your tractor. And haul better than a 3 bottom. I worked at a Minneapolis Moline dealer in the 60's. MM plow same as a Oliver. We had a paper telling us how to make a 74 HP Moline 670 Super plow with a 4020 JD. 93 hp. We could do it. But We also could apply the same tricks to the JD plow to make it pull easier. Del Riddle the block man had a stress meter on the semi mounted plow so you could see the difference.

Vic,you're wrong about that. I've proved it to myself. Started with a worn out 706 and a JD 825(3x14) rollover. Later, traded it for an IH #314(3x16). the tractor acctually pulled it a fuzz easier than the johndeere.I later bought my 1256 and a JD 835(4x16),later sold it and bought an IH 642(4x16). Again,I could tell the difference. Another story about two neighboring farmers that had identical tractors, one pulled a IH 140,the other pulled a JD 4200.The tractor pulling the IH walked easy, the tractor pulling the JD worked harder. Then they switched plows, with the same results. The next day the JD plow went to town, and an IH came home in it's place.BTW,the red plows always seem to do a better job rolling, and covering.Just my experiences.

An F45 would be. The best match for your tractor. I have one. I had a 435 and traded it on an airplane. I also have a 2 bottom 812, it was sold new with a 50.

You can cut 2" off the heel of each share and that little bit of dirt will make the rest turnover a hare more and 5 x 2" is 10" right also you can set your tailwheel so there is no friction on your landsides. Also the rollingng coulters how deep and where they are set maked a big difference. Also all the big companies makes how many mowboards. Bunches. John Deere is a pretty big. They had access to all the brands to test them. Remember we had a stress meter.

A John Deere 435 has a Detroit Diesel 2-53 two stroke diesel. It has a Roots type scavenge blower. Unless it has a marine cam that closes the exhaust valve before the scavenge ports in the cylinder cuts off, it will get no positive pressure from the blower, just clean the burnt mixture from the cylinder with fresh air for the next compression stroke.

This is a John Deere F125 plow - 2-16 with trip bottoms. I would guess it's about the age of your tractor. We have clay here so that's about as big as even a 620 wants to pull. Sandy soil it would easily pull three. I got this from the original owner and even got the original manual with it. Only thing is you may have a category I hitch. This plow is category II which wouldn't work so that's something you need to check.
