Van Brunt Grain Drill

The manuals say to cover off the openings in the hopper to get the spacing you want then you will have to adjust the door on the front of the seed cup for the larger seed and set the rate and your ready to plant

(quoted from post at 07:52:55 04/20/20) Does anyone out there know how to use the corn planter feature on an old Van Brunt drill?

If your Van Brunt drill is newer than 1911 it was made by John Deere.

If you can figure out what model it is (post a photo?) you can get an operator's manual for it (VERY helpful).

It may be possible to find an original manual on ebay (often very reaonable), or you can get a reproduction from John Deere by calling 1-800-522-7448.

Also, once it's identified you can see parts breakdowns and get part numbers to order parts at https://partscatalog.deere.com/jdrc/.

Does your drill have metal wheels or rubber tires on each end? If your drill has fluted feed cups I think feed gates will have to be set in a lower position for planting corn seed than when planting small grain such as oats or wheat.
