Hi i am buying a vintage tractor I have a choice between an international W6 standard in good going condition or a 1925 F Model Fordson in very original and well-maintained condition made in Detroit USA can someone tell me which would be more collectable.
thank you

I do not know which one is more collectable. The demand is dropping every year, so don't expect to get more money for it than you paid.

Get what you like best and enjoy that.

W6 way more common, lots made and found in western wheat growing areas of US & Canada. Parts are widely available.

personally I would go for the W6 because there aren't any around here unless they were shipped here from a farm move, and the parts are easy to find like was already said.

Those two tractors appeal to collectors of
different timeframes. The Fordson would
appeal to collectors of farm equipment
from the transition from horses to
tractors, basically pre-WWII. The W6
appeals to collectors of equipment from a
few years prior to WWII to early 50's. Buy
whichever appeals to you the most, neither
is really going to appreciate in value as
those collectors are passing on and the
market has shifted to "muscle" tractors of
the 60's and 70's.

Sprint 6 is telling your right , the MARKET for those tractors has pretty much already passed. Neither are going to be worth more to any degree latter. I am like everyone else I would go for the W6 , but that is just my liking, no real reason.

If the Fordson is hand start, I think that would reduce the pool of potential buyers by 80+ percent.

I decided to add my two cents. I understand the part about perhaps not being too collectible or little
upside to value. No one asked what you may do with either one. Will you keep it at home? Take it
to shows? Participate in tractor rides? Do you have any implements sized for either one? And finally,
are you able to do upkeep yourself? I?m not leaning either way on your choice but giving some
things to consider. Good luck and enjoy.

Thank you everyone much appreciated I will stick with buying the W6 not many like the idea of crank starting something if I ever go to sell one day

Some might think a Model T Ford is a collectible auto but times have changed. Not a lot of people want them anymore. I'd take something as plain as a '48 Chevy sedan over the T any day of the week.

Its a hard choice- if you buy the W6, you'll need to find a good cylinder head that isnt cracked. If you buy the Fordson, everybody within 2 miles of you will
be able to track your movements by the sound of your rear end (the Fordson's noisy worm gear differential that is, but possibly yours as well depending on
diet....).

If you have a cast-iron butt, a strong back and right arm, non-opposable thumbs and a willingness to learn a whole new starting procedure vocabulary then you
should get the Fordson.

If you enjoy 20th century technological advancements such as electric starters and a burnt out light switch/voltage regulator/smoke and spark generator and the
thought of turning on a 40 foot diametre dime is your definition of "maneuverable", then you need a W6.

The Fordson is smaller and easier to haul to a tractor show, to which fewer and fewer Fordsons are showing up at over the years, but the W6 is more operator
friendly (comparably) and can still pull a wagon or trailing implement without any worries or drama.

What would make the presumption that the cylinder head is cracked? In fact good running might suggest the head has recently been checked and found good. The WD6 would ne more likely to have a cracked head, however that may or may not be the situation.

My dad had a T6 and a TD6, and a Dragline that was repowered with a UD6. I had a WD6 and the Township had a 6 or 8 inch sludge pump with a U6 power unit on it and every one of them eventually needed a cylinder head!

I do take your point that the diesels had it a bit harder than the gasoline versions and were more prone to cracking

Hi the lady said her father always kept his tractors in good mechanical order , he had a few lanz bulldogs as well

To me, neither would be highly collectible. I may be wrong but I think both will only have a drawbar to pull something. That's all. The older owe will be
hand start which will get old pretty quick. I would suggest something with electric start and 3 point hitch so that you could actually do something with the
tractor rather than just ride it around.

Hi Tracy I already have five tractors on the farm with linkage just thought one would be more collectable than the other
