5065E John Deere problems

I recently purchased a used John Deere 5065 E. It says it only has 575 hours. It came from Texas. The tachometer has stopped working. And suggestions?

Not enough information to tell you very much. I assume the tach is electrically driven. If you are worried about actual hours, there is no way to get
that information unless you discuss it with the prior owner, and he/she is truthful. Looking at wear on foot pedals, 3pt hitch wear at lift points and
drawbar primary hole, throttle lever looseness, tire condition, and belt wear would be indicators. That few hours will show very little wear in those
areas. If those are worn, then suspect many more hours.
If fixing the tach is intended, testing the wires end to end for continuity, and connections at the sending ans tach ends is a start. A signal tracing
pulse detector (electronic hand held meter) can be a crisp solution to analysis. Pulses to tach, it is the tach that is bad. Jim
