If the back side is flat, and you have access to a mill or some way to drill straight, press in studs would be a good option. That way they are easy to replace if needed.

Screw in studs would be my second choice. Helicoils will hold studs with Locktite, but would not be great for bolts. Thread insert bushings is another option, that would be better with bolts.

Whatever method you use, don't try to freehand drill them. Use a mill, drill press, or a drill guide block.

I do not like Helicoils on a threaded hole that I am going to be taking apart from time to time. Although they are not supposed to pull out, they occasionally will even with Loctite and then you have to fix them again. If you are looking for a cheap fix, get longer bolts and put a nut on the opposite side of the hub.

I have used KEENSERTS , nothing special to drill and tap ya just need the locking tool to drive the locks in , They are tough and can be replaced with out a lot of trouble if need be.

Helicoils good for things that will rarely be taken apart. Advantage is they take up less room but require their special tap. Keenserts are a better option. Stronger and require standard taps with a larger than standard tap drill. You can get away without the installing tool if you're careful with a small hammer.
