replacement recoil rope

Does anyone have a good recommendation for replacement recoil ropes for ATV's? The rope I get from the local hardware store doesn't make it a year, and that's with the machines sitting inside. The size is 3/16" or 5mm. I have looked at paracord, but it is either too small or too big. I have also contacted a place called Armorcord. Hopefully they will get back to me. Thanks

Mike

Anyplace that sells/repairs power equipment should have the proper rope, and it should last many years. I just replaced the rope in a 48 year old chainsaw last year for the first time.

GO with the Small engine shop replacement product. Brand name material is no stretch, and designed for flexibility. Jim

SDMike,

Believe ti or not, I purchased Kevlar pull rope from the local small engine place. I couldn't cut it with a side cutter. I had to beat it with a hammer over a sharp steel edge to trim it to length.

Perhaps that might work for you.

I bought a piece of parachute cord from a surplus store and have been using pieces of it for years, haven't had to replace any of them again.

Is the grommet good where it comes through the cover?

If it's worn through the rope will get abraded by the sharp edges.
