New member from NC

New member popping in to say hello. Found some good info here and decided to join. After moving back to the family farm, I m tasked with getting this place back in shape. All three tractors were purchased new by my grandfather, who passed away in 2006. Here s a little preview. Next up is the 801 to get some work done. Just ordered some parts for the 5000 today. Thank you yesterdays tractors! Can you spot what makes the 5000 so special?

(quoted from post at 19:16:36 04/12/20) Please accept a hearty welcome. The turbo probably wakes that beast up. Nice. Jim

(quoted from post at 19:18:42 04/12/20) We used to put M&W turbos on the 5000s, they would crank out in excess of 80 hp from that 68 hp engine.

Thanks Jim! And to both of you, it ll pull anything you put behind it, if you can keep the front tires on the ground! It s getting a service, valve cover gasket, and valve adjustment this weekend.

Welcome to the forum and good luck with your future endeavors on your family farm. Your grandfather was a wise man. The 801 is a work horse. Nice
equipment to get your place back in shape. I hope your able to plant a large garden once you get settled in. Great therapy.

Now [i:2a001f7708]here's[/i:2a001f7708] someone who knows how to make an entrance!!

Welcome, and keep the pics coming all you want.

M&W turbo kit? A friend had a 5000 flat deck with a turbo. Absolutely beautiful tractor! I wish they had kept it when
they sold the farm but they kept their Farmall 560 instead.

Welcome. Nice tractors, I don?t know how big your
farm is, but you have some good looking tractors to
work with. Neighbors had a Ford 5000 when I was a
kid, beautiful tractor. By time I was farming the 5000
model was gone, and anyone that had one was
hanging on to them. So I ended up buying a brand
new 5640 like you have, with a Ford loader.
Fantastic tractor! Hope you will share more pictures
with us in the future.

Welcome and good luck to you. Very nice tractors. I have grown to appreciate the Fords more since being on this site and learning
more about them. I have 4 John Deeres, 2 Fords, 1 Allis Chalmers, and my only modern tractor is a New Holland. I have been able to
improve all of them by utilizing information from this site. Be happy to answer any produce questions should you desire to grow
any truck crops!

Welcome, those tractors look to be in nice condition. Turbo
5000 , is that an add on turbo or repowered with a 7000
engine? 5000 Ford is one of my favorite tractors, I ran one
quite a bit years ago and someday I should get one to keep
my 4000 , 960 and 2 NAA?s company.

The Ford Discussion Forum here is about as good as it gets you mite take a look at it... Nice group of tractors your family assembled good luck with them....

(quoted from post at 04:41:14 04/13/20) Welcome to the board! Curious what is the bracket on the lower middle of the 801 for?

That s the bracketry for a sickle bar mower. The 801 has been a dedicated mower since it was new. I ll have to get some more pictures of it soon. I m in the process of getting it going again. Had it running, pulled the sickle up into transport mode, and the tractor died. During the process of trouble shooting, the solenoid has given up. I currently have the front wheels off to get the tires replaced this week. Then I ll pull it to the garage and start working on it again.

The 5000 was sold new with the M&W setup by Blue Ridge Tractor here in Wilkes County. My grandpa watched it work in a field (as a demo) and loved it so much he bought it. It s a 74 model. It was our original work horse. Both the 5000 and 801 are Select-o-speed. I ve seen a lot of good and bad, but I like the transmission personally.

The 5640 was also purchased new in 94 or 95 from Blue Ridge Tractor. I can t remember the exact year, as I was very young, but I remember the day it was delivered. I spent all last weekend going over both the 5640 and the 5000, cleaning, decreasing, and inspecting. Spring is here, and it s time to work!

Welcome!
Good looking fleet you have.
My impression of Ford machines has improved since being on this site. I used to think the only good Fords were 8N's and the rest plain old knock-offs. That was wrong! There were some very hearty and durable machines Ford built. My appreciation for them has grown.
