Spraying yard

Is it too early to spray 24D on the yard or should dandelions be present? Thanks for any advice

They are coming out here, but I like to wait till freezes done.

24D is a contact spray so the leaves must be present for absorption of the chemical to kill them. I would wait until there is more leaf surface before spraying.

I guess it depends on your location, we have had three weeks above freezing and days as high as low 80s so I sprayed mine last week. Middle Tennessee , have a lot of green weed called doc , is mostly what I killed.

There are two things to consider. 2,4 D works better in warm weather and in the fall when weeds are taking herbicide (and other things) down into their roots.
