X590 Review

I got a JD X590 this winter when they were on sale.

It has a fuel injected 27HP engine, I am not real pleased, as it loads up when starting.

It has been puttered around moving it this winter, had .5 hours on it. It blew out a cloud of blue smoke when I started it this morning, so seemed like it needed to work. I went up today and got a friends 1 ton lawn roller. I put it on the tractor for 2.5 hours. The engine had no issues pulling the roller, but I need more traction, plan to put 50 pounds of cast iron on each wheel and see how that does.
 
Does it have the Kawasaki engine, differential lock and 54" deck? I have been thinking of upgrading my X300. I mainly just use it for trimming and around the house but would like the 54" deck. If the tractor I use with my finish mower goes down I would like to have a rider with at least a 54" deck as back up for short term. My yard in total is 5 acres.

Radial ATV tires improve traction without tearing up the lawn .
 
This is my "new to me 28hp mower" I got in January. With some minor repairs, I have $1,350 invested. Just need the frost to stop so the grass will grow. I didn't need another mower, but just couldn't turn down the deal.

David G, any chance you would have a picture of the roller? I would like to build one and looking for ideas. After living here for 25 years the lawn is getting rough from small ant hills with grass now growing through them and the random mole tunnel. Does a roller of that weight do a good job? Thank you.
