Power washer unloader spring

I am working om a power washer that had been sitting for a couple years. Got the engine running, Honda GX-200, the pump is a Cat 3DX29GSI model. Hooked the water up to it & it has all kinds of pressure. When I release the trigger, it kills the engine. So, the unloader valve isn't working even after adjusting it. Took the adjusting cap off & the spring was rusted & seized. Naturally what does one do in this situation, he get a pair of pliers & tries to free it. It broken of course!!! Now I have located a spring on a site called ALLPARTSINC.com for $11.81. The Cat Pumps says when you rebuild an unloader to get all the o-rings & seat replaced as well. I'm just wondering if any of you have an idea where I could find a 3/8" or 7/16" spring that is 1 1/4" tall, must have the stiffness of a engine valve spring.

" must have the stiffness of a engine valve spring." That "spec" will get you nowhere. Engine valve spring probably vary more than 100:1

Ebay does not list just the spring, they want to sell you the whole pump assembly for $300. Yes, I realize the "stiffness of a valve spring" will get me know where. I was hoping people wouldn't tell me to rip a spring out of a mattress to make it work. That was the best example I could come up with.

Anyone know anything about Die Springs? The loading grade of die springs in various colors (from lightest load to extra heavy load): yellow, blue, red, green, brown.
This is from Amazon.

Without knowing the dimensions of the old spring, I can only make a couple of suggestions as to where you might find something similar.

Engine valve springs off old mower engines are one possibility.

Another possibility is springs from inside an automatic transmission. There are quite an assortment available. Servo return springs, pressure regulator springs, reverse booster springs, accumulator springs top name a few. These can be found in many different automatics.

Another possibility would be relief valves from compressors.

Yet another would be a power steering pump relief valve from an automobile.

There are literally thousands of different springs available. If you know the dimensions and spring rate, matching something up should be something that you can accomplish.
