Alternator help

Ford 960. Delco alt. 3 wire. Which stud
goes to big battery stud? 1 or 2? Other
one goes to acc on key switch? I have a
diode to put in that wire

When my son worked at O'Reilly's he sold me this one. Swore it was one wire......he was wrong. Of course I had already wired it up no return. Been 8 months. Time to make it work!
 
If you don't have the plastic harness plug, it can be bought at the auto supply.

It really needs to be there to hold the connectors on and prevent them from shaking loose, shorting out.

ou can make it a one wire by purchasing a self-exciting regulator and installing it in place of the one that's in there now. Then the only wire needed will attach from the battery ( or other "always hot" connection such as the large post on the starter solenoid) to the 1/4" terminal on the alternator.

remember to put a charger on it every now
