Back To Winter

For a bit anyway. Down to zero overnight and miserable wind by day. Bit of new snow on top of the frozen ponds now. I came out of isolation briefly to get a few groceries and mail in town. Things are quieter than usual. More people walking than usual. Less traffic for sure. A few bare shelves in the stores but they had most of what I needed. Hoping to stay heathy enough to put the crop in when things finally warm up here. Shot some driving video of the town. A little along the highway of last year's canola swaths in the fields. Spring harvest coming up later this month maybe.

Nice looking country. Looks like some parts of ND & Mt that I've been through. How far are you from the CN-US border? What state is S of you?

Thanks. Nice to ride along. Do you need to go to Fort Qu'Appelle (sp?) to shop? I think I heard you mention the "Fort". My non-scientific measurement says your farm is about 40-50 miles from the Fort. But I'm where major towns are 15 miles one direction and 25 miles the other direction from our smaller town. I sure appreciate the countryside and the farms. I do take a "therapy drive" into the country every so often.

Seems we are having less sunshine here than what I would say is "normal".

My guess is that Rusty's farm is almost straight north of the MT/ND border and about 150 miles from the CAN/US border. As I've said before I'm a geography "nut" and have actually "looked" at Rusty's farm via satellite photoing.

Cool, thanks. I'm kind of a geography nut, too. We are on the SE side of SD @ Mitchell, right on I-90. Just in case you're interested we are only about 60 miles N of the Nebraska boarder, but we have kind of a "big crick" between us.

I've never been South of the 49th but guess its a good two hour drive or more. Pretty much straight up from the ND/MT border I think.

Ron, its only about a twenty mile drive to the valley. Theres a few things I need there I can't get closer to home like a bank. Although I do most banking online when possible.
Unc, I don't know what to expect with the spring threshed canola but it could be pretty bad. Shelling will be an issue and there could be seed damage from mould too. It will be a week or two at least before the fields will support combines. Frozen solid this morning but that could change pretty quick it the temp goes up.

I've been through Mitchell several times. Always like stopping at Marlins for a feed bag. Last I knew it got turned into a something else for the fuel side.
