OT How much have you learned from YT?

All,

In so few years, probably better than ten-plus, man I have gleaned so much info from here. I barely can repay it all. Could be family farms, family tractor, implements, and a great shoutout to the person that told me about the electrolysis and the shrinkage of welding an inner bearing, as well as engines and their inability to keep me from frustration.

Sound off. This site is worth more than I could repay. I thank all that have assisted me in the endeavors, including the world I interact with.

D.

Too many ideas to list. But the inspiration of All the people that do what they do makes me feel like a wimp. A special shout out to Dick L. When I think of what he accomplishes in a mobily assistance device I want to cry. I have some issues but not that bad. Got gout this weekend and am laid up, waiting for meds to start. Earl

Taught me so much, and perhaps responsible for half my sanity. Which is less than I?d want to admit to.

Paul

This site helps me take my mind off other things in life. Always enjoy reading it. Sometimes folks get a little hot under the collar but, thankfully not too often.

More than I can ever repay ever in my life time . And the guys that have helped give advice or send parts or rebuild new Holland Baler needles . Or make shirts to advertise my business. I can?t even think of it all . The right guards to put on a John Deere no.8 mower to make it cut hay

Quite a bit, there is no question. Same with sharing knowledge, it's kind of like the give-take change thing on the counter, obviously without either being required. The unique thing here is the willingness of people to help others.

This site is an opportunity for anyone to help someone anytime of the day. I enjoy that the most, especially when it's something you know well and you can provide good help to deal with something.

A while back, on the TT forum, someone needed a part for something not really tractor related. It was a challenge, but I enjoy such things, by golly, I found the right part after looking intently. The darned thing was available too ! Later on, heard back, it was correct, fit perfectly and he got an extra one for a spare. It fixed the problem ! I wish I could do just that sort of thing all day, there is nothing better !

I don't know that it is about the quantity but the quality. Then it is about the stories and camaraderie. Lots of farmers around me do not care about old tractors and equipment. Even if I had as much money as some of the people around me I would still have an itch for old equipment. Just a couple days back I just imagined for the heck of it what if grandpa had inherited 5-6,000 dollars back during the mid-1950's how he might spend it. He was mostly IH and some JD so I could see a 300 row crop with fast hitch showing up. A few fast hitch implements, a JD FB drill, a couple of JD 963 wagon gears, a 3 bottom plow for the M after an oversize kit going in it, loader with hydraulic bucket for one of the tractors, etc..

Have had a lot of kind folks answer questions that my husband asks me to post here.

Have learned so many things: from tractor stuff, to gardening, to home repairs, to you-name-it.

Have made some friends whom I'd never have met if I had never stumbled into this neighborhood called YT.

You're all the bestest!

Thankful for the camaraderie! YT keeps me company, provides knowledge....

And YT is my guiding light. GRIN... when I call it a day, I open uo YT on my cell phone, turn out the lights.... then walk up the stairs by the glow of the YT webpage. LOL

Many thanks to Kim and Chris for this virtual neighborhood!!!!!

I am VERY thankful for this site.i have only been here for a year now,and all i can say is that everyone is nice, helpful, and very knowledgeable of farm equipment.,i know that the help from those on this site, have helped me out of a lot of jams, and stopped me from doing a lot of stupid things.thank you YT

I guess the thing I have learned the most here is about generator charging systems.

Before I just tried to ignore them and hand them off to someone else. But in the process of getting the old Fergy up and going, I didn't want to loose the tach and originality, so time to learn!

Now if I could just learn smart phones and computers!

Not much at all, usually get an answer like get a manual or the question will be totally ignored or someone will post something about how his neighbor had one like that back in the day but never actually answer the question.

It was a great site when I found it in 2006, iv had good info or help on here, but things changed,,posting is way down, there?s more religious, politics and bickering nonsense than I care to read about,, and people posting the same repetitive thing,,. Is what it is I wish it was like it was couple years ago,

Working on my first 2 tractors going back to 2010 I learned a lot.As others have said a lot now is politics and yes, I have contributed to that. I apologize and will refrain. Ask questions, post pictures, talk about great things our kids and grandkids are doing. Tractor show pictures! I have made a number of friends thru this site and learned a lot.

Buckets and buckets worth of knowledge, much of it hard-learned and -earned. I can?t begin to repay the many individuals, but I have tried to also say thanks to Kim & Chris for starting this site and continuing to host it. Some may have noticed, as I have, that they have never solicited to support these forums. It isn?t free to them in terms of time, $, equipment, maintenance, and training (esp. as hardware & software changes).

I've certainly learned a ton of things on YT, and learned ABOUT things that I can't imagine being discussed anywhere else. A lot of folks here from different walks of life, all of us just trying to muddle through life and keep our tractors running.

Along with all the knowedge freely given is the comradery of some real down to earth people with similar interests and backrounds. There are a number of people on this site, from all over, I would like to meet in person. Thank you to the creators of this site.

Beneficial in many ways. I'm too dumb to learn much but this site provides a lot of interesting reading not to mention very helpful specific and technical info. It reminds me of the sage advises I ignored when younger from those who have lived it. My hat is off to ya'll. Michael

I have had plenty of good advice given to me from folks that frequent this site. And Bob from Dakota even took the trouble to take a crucial spring of an old parts machine he had, and mailed it to me, something I am very grateful for. And I have met several nice folks that post on this site, and some have even stopped in to say hi , right here at my farm. I wish good health and happiness to you all. Bruce

Which reminds me, that Bob is the one who saved me a bunch of money on my 24V injector pump solenoid, by providing alternate sources. I thanked him at the time, and I'm doing it again!

I do not write much on this site, but I read it daily (more like several times daily). I have learned so much from following this board. I cannot begin to list all of the people that have have helped me without them even knowing it. The wisdom that has been given has been tremendous. I will forever be in debt to the people on this board.

I have asked and received help many times thank you for all the comments. Also have learned silence is golden at times and no one is right all of the time and some folks can be just plain ornery but for the most part this is a great bunch.

I learned more about old tractors, farming in different areas and I feel I made some friends along the way. Would enjoy meeting pretty near anyone on here.

Ben

Oh, what an open question! Really, I learned that my tractor experiences are not unique but some of the diagnosis and repairs are. Also some off topic discussions have helped with other projects or to unserstand another point of view (which I reserve the right not to agree but bite my tongue). Often terms used are new descriptions of parts or procedures and I have to get a teenager to explain it to me.
No intent to offend anyone with my answer, but you asked. LOL

A lot that's for sure. I have posted for information many times and always got a solution sometimes more that one way to fix a problem. Thanks everyone and stay safe!

I have been on here probably 12 plus years. It helps with my sanity most of all. It is "nice" to know that I am not the only one who has bad days or troubles in life. We all get thru it and hopefully look back and laugh. I enjoy the humor and hopefully have been able to make some people laugh as well, or atleast crack a smile. YT is a great place to go for those of us who have lost a Dad do not have anyone to call for advice.

Have learned more than giving advice. Even tho I have manuals on most of my stuff, but after reading it, I still have to ask. Also read/learned a lot of things I didn't know anything about.
Wayne

I would say about the same thing. I have learned a lot about the tractors I have no/little experience with and really enjoy hearing about how things are done in different areas . There are a lot of good people on this site and I say thank you to everyone who contributes here.

The best thing I learned is that farmers and those associated with agriculture are still the ones with the most common sense, most caring, and most willing to share.

Sometimes I don't come here for anything in particular, but I always leave with a smile or two and having learned or relearned a thing or two.

Thanks to everyone here!

Larry

Over on Tool Talk I got some real good tips and tricks to make things easier. Great info on broken bolt removal.

(quoted from post at 07:03:24 04/03/20) I have asked and received help many times thank you for all the comments. Also have learned silence is golden at times and no one is right all of the time and some folks can be just plain ornery but for the most part this is a great bunch.

This pretty much says it all.

Also, one time Delta Red sent me some chain that I needed. Thanks again for that!

A lot more interesting then any farm magazine I ever subscribed to and a lot of good information and good folks on here also.
