Oliver Plow 8 bottom $3750

Will post here, maybe more responses. How many watched the 8 bottom Oliver plow sell on Big Iron today. It sold for $3750. What is special about this plow? Other than at least two bidders wanted to take it home. Just curious. Thanks, Larry

Probably not too many 8 bottom made with Oliver on the plow. That was mighty big for a 1970s plow.

Oliver is a good plow maker, so it was probably about right price?

It was a rare plow....it was two plows hooked together the front plow has provisions to hook a semi mounted plow behind it....

Like crooked rows said. rare piece. Collector value. First one I have see even a pic of. I have a piece of literature on it here somewhere.

Some dairy farms still moldboard plow ground that is in continuous corn for silage. You see them pull 8 to 10 bottom plows behind large articulated 4WD tractors.

Probably a collector got it--They had one like it a couple of years ago but it didn't bring nearly that much. My Dad had the Deere version of it--A 2600 6 bottom with a 2600 4 bottom behind it. Had a hitch that hooked to the tractor that went along side of the 6 bottom and the 4 bottom was hooked to that. Pulled it with his Deere 8630.---Tee

One like it sold on Big Iron in 2018-#448-10 bottom brought $1900--8 bottom pipe plow brought $120 in 2017--I was 2nd to last bidder--don't know why I didn't go higher--too far away.---Tee

Don't know why that would surprise anyone, I had a Deere 690 six x sixteen in the Mecum auction two years ago that sold for $7,350.00

Butt they sure didn't know how to make plow shares, they cut the nose off the shares so they would wear on the nose of the frog sooner, one of the most egregious, things i ever seen!
