low oil pressure

I have a 2405B inter. industrial tractor with a c-157 engine. When I parked it oil pressure was fine, siting for a couple of weeks now it has low oil pressure. Waiting on the engine manual, just wondering if there's anything to check while I'm waiting-pressure relief valve?

Many IH engines have problems with the pot metal cover over the oil pump gears. I'd pull the oil pan off and look for a warped cover with a blown out gasket.

I just got done with this on Dad's H he was complaining about the oil pressure on it. He wanted to pull things apart. I said why not try a different gauge. New gauge and good oil pressure is fine. Was original gauge was so dark you could not see the red or white line in there anymore.

I agree change the gauge first.I have seen to many engine torn apart. Only to find out the gauge was bad.You may have other problems. But changing the gauge. May save you some money.

Were temperatures below freezing, if so and there's water in the oil pan it could have damaged the oil pump cover when it froze.

Then you should do as the others say.Mike and the others. Know more about the tractors than I do. My main work was with power units. But I have seen a lot of oil pumps changed. Because of a bad gauge.

I have often wondered why so many fixers tear equipment apart and randomly throw time ,Money and parts into a machine .
Rather than perform trouble shooting and find the problems prior to repairs .
