skid loader rental rates

What are the rental rates for a skid loader in your area? Whether it is hourly, daily, or weekly, I am looking at a mid size skid loader to move to some dirt and do a little landscaping.

I priced a kubota 75 at our local rental place. $300 a day $1300 a week. No wonder everyone owns one. You can?t afford to rent one much

Just might be cheaper to hire it done. Write up a document with the scope of the work, then call a few locals to come give you a price. Get the lawn chair out a cold drink and watch it all happen. gobble

Most folks would rather sit on theirs for free than have you use it. The only reason to rent one is it you are thinking of buying one. Plus if you get an operator they will get 3 times as much done. Ask at the dealer, they know who is just starting out.

I agree with hiring a machine with operator. Local guy came and did some work, charged I think $75/hour but was very fast. He would have had half the job done by the time I figured out how to turn the thing around.

A friend rented one to do a landscaping job. He planned on doing it in a day but had to spend a half day getting it unstuck.

That is not really so. We have 6 in the day rent fleet and the rental is about 80% contractors or professional landscapers who just need that extra machine for a day or special job. Home owner rental we accept but you have to have a trailer good enough to move the machine or we charge $65.00 each way in the county. For a dealer day rental is better than weekly or monthly, more money for less hours on the machine. We leave the machines in the rental fleet until they get 1200 hrs then sell them and always have a waiting list for the rental machines as they have a discounted price. Rental rates vary all over the country depending on demand but usually somewhere around $350.00 a day for 90hp track machines with a charge for anything over 8 hr in the day.

A guy wanted to rent a backhoe, $1000/wk. Proof of insurance, plus no delivery.

Terramites rent for about $165/day, $250 over weekend. No delivery.

Small trackhoe $300/day.

No idea about ski loaders. I just know they will do a lot of damage to yard, heavy rear ballast, ruts. Don't know what you are doing you will damage sod.

My DIY rental have terramites and trackhoes.
I'm a fan of 3100# terramites for yard work.
4 ft wide, great visibility, quarter yard bucket.
If I have to move dirt a long distance I use a dump trailer. Terramites don't go fast. Kubota is faster but heavier.

Some people charge a delivery fee if you hire someone to do the work for you. Their delivery fee may be more than you rental fee at a DIY.

New terramites, the T5C 25 hp gas, start at $25k, plus tax, plus freight. Terramite has two diesel models,4x4, very expensive.
My DIY rental has T5C.

I rented a JD tracked skid-steer 2 weeks ago and was charged $250. I had picked it up at 2pm and returned it at 8am the next morning. They were suprised and pleased at how clean it was when I took it back.

Acutally that is why I am so down on those things, we bought two new ones and they stayed tore up and broke down all the time. Got rid of them in less than a year, in our area they will just stand up in the rental market. NOW granted folks always abuse rental machines and try to do more than they were rated to do but we put two small KUBOTA tlbs in place and they have preformed well.

I like the Terramites, have rented them on several occasions at my old house. Moved a lot of dirt and kept the yard looking good.

One of the jobs I hired a dirt contractor for was removal and re-landscaping an area with a big old ugly concrete patio poured by a previous homeowner. Every bit of ten inches thick, but no rebar but plenty of cracks running through. Thought jackhammering it was the way to go. No, we'll take care of it, the contractor said. They used a Bobcat rubber-tracked loader, got under one edge of it, lifted it high, and WHAM! Let it drop, breaking it into pieces. Repeated that until it was gone. Wasn't their first rodeo. Patio was roughly 15 by 25 feet. Few hours work and they totally transformed the yard, ready for new grass.
