Removing rivets from JD fertilizer double disk cast hub

I am installing some new disk openers and bearings on my John Deere double disk fertilizer openers. These use the same bearing as the seed openers, but use a thick cast bearing hub. There are 6 long rivets holding the blade and the hub together. Ground the rivet heads off and tried to drive the rivets out of the hub with a punch, but no luck. Just wondering if anyone has replaced either the bearings or blades and had to remove the rivets. I tried a hammer and punch and the hydraulic press. Maybe I need to heat the casting on the outside near each rivet or possibly drill each rivet out part way. Yes, I know I could buy the complete opener with bearings and hub assembled. Just wanting to save some $. Any ideas? Thanks.

We did it years ago,I think we ground the rivets off twice as you may have already. We ground them off to pop off the disks then ground them off again to drive them out of the hubs.

That trick works pretty dang good but it?s kind of a one shot deal get it to hot and you?ll still burn cast but it does work

When rivets are driven, they expand to fit tightly in the hole. If you chisel off the heads it will stretch them a bit and make it easier to drive them out, but it's probably too late for that now. If you only ground off the heads on one side, you can try chiseling the remaining heads; at the least it might move them a little bit.

Assuming the rivet heads on the opposite side are open to the air, drill each about 2/3 of their diameter, but not through (mark the drill bit with a sharpie) then use the punch in the drill hole to push them through. taking out the meat of the rivet allows the force to shrink them through the blade and hub.
