Working on a Ford 600 should the little wire from the button be hot when the switch is on?

The terminal on the tranny-top safety neutral start switch will be "HOT" at all times with respect to chassis ground, except when the button is depressed to crank the engine.

This is with key switch "OFF" or "ON".

It works along with an "oddball" (as compared to most other brands) starter solenoid that operates when its small (S) terminal is grounded.
