Ordered an item from eBay (Surfactant)8
oz.Two weeks after promised delivery date
I checked tracking # was told it could
not be returned or delivered was sent to
USPS recovery center, that's all I can
find out. Anyone else ever have this
happen? Thanks

Yes, the package was damaged and was never delivered, went to the recovery center, then to AtlantaGA, thats what the usps people told me I waited the required time and got my money back, ebay guarantee. gobble

Had a gallon jug of synthetic oil vanish in the mail system.

It started out coming my way, then went off a different direction, then tracking stopped.

Never showed up. I suspect it started leaking and someone trashed it to avoid filling out hazmat forms.

The Ebay seller didn't have another to send so I got a refund, no questions asked.

I have filed complaints with USPS and UPS trying to get reimbursed for lost/damaged shipments, I failed in both attempts. I have heard this same story from other people. Therefore, I never pay for insurance above what is provided by the shipping company.

As Big ruh said report it to ebay. Thier policy is that the seller is responsible for the package until it hits your door. You have about 30 days to start a claim. As an aside NEVER pay extra for shipping insurance on ebay purchases for same reason. If it gets lost the seller has the funds removed from his account and placed in yours.

I shipped a part to California via parcel post that arrived damaged. I filed a claim with copies of emails and proof of payment and was reimbursed for the part price and shipping, no problems and took about two weeks.

Could be worse. Ups delivered an item to me that was not mine, and was not something I wanted. Then billed my account for the shipping.

That took a while to get straightened out.

(quoted from post at 21:13:18 03/12/20) report it to Ebay and they'll help resovle it

That's all well and good UNTIL you are the ebay seller. Been there, done that.

The SELLER doesn't lose or mangle the shipment, yet is the one that ultimately has to pay up. REAL fair, don't you think???

Ever sold on ebay?

USPS is all over the place. Sometimes they deliver ahead of schedule, sometimes never, as in your case. Of all things I had a registered letter get lost. They admitted they lost track of it but it Took my secretary days of time, over a 3 month period, to prove what was in it and that it was worth the $300 I insured it for. After 2 denials and 2 appeals, I finally was paid 3 months later. On the bright side, they do deliver a lot so packages on schedule.

Not much different than if you own a store and someone spills a gallon of something in the aisle - as the owner you eat the cost. Stuff happens and if you are in business it is all just part of the cost of doing business. If you sell on ebay you are in business.

I'm at around 500-600 purchases from ebay. I like doing business with them and their sellers. One of these days I may be one of their sellers when I get tired of my hobbies. Other than a couple of instances where a disagreement wasn't worth pursuing.....where my expectations exceeded the level of the sellers advertisement, both sellers and ebay go out of their way to ensure that the customer gets treated fairly.....at least they do with THIS customer!

USPS delivery including just simple mail delivery is a joke in my area. If you complain, they make you a fill out a complaint. Worthless. I always take bill payments to a pubic mailbox to send them, never at the end of my driveway.

My wife sent a large box of textbooks and other books by media mail in January. Entire box has disappeared. Post office has no explanation, other than the last it was seen was several hundred miles south of us -- the opposite direction from where it should have been headed. She has filled out the form but has no hope of ever seeing the books again. (Problem is that "media mail" is relatively cheap, even though ti still cost her something like $20; insurance wasn't an option. Live and learn, I guess.)

On a related USPS topic, hardly a week goes by that I don't get other people's mail in my mailbox. I dutifully put the items back into my box, flag up and correct address circled in black. What worries me is how much of my own mail maybe goes to the wrong box and gets tossed by the faulty recipient rather than getting put back into the box.

I had a fellow YTer send me a magneto from Texas before Christmas. Never got it. He got back what was left of the box & tracking showed it got as far as Iowa. No idea where the mag is.

My turn to rant. My rural delivery person gets here an hour to an hour and a half later on Mondays. Then on Tues., it's rare if I get any mail delivered. I can't figure it out. Then a while back My wife happen to see the mail driver leave our driveway and he hadn't blown his horn or knocked on our door. So she went out and I leave my garage door open in the day time. She found a package and our mail in the back of our garage on the seat of a golf cart thatI don't use in the winter, If she hadn't seen him leave, We never would have seen our mail. By the way the package was medical supplies.

We used to have frequent rural mailbox destruction problems (mailbox baseball) and then we started going away on week-ends and did not want mail left in the box while we were gone. So, we gave up rural delivery about 18 years ago and opted for a PO Box. It was right on my way home from work.
We are retired now (13 years) and still have the PO Box. You can still get into delivery problems because some businesses require a physical residence address. I get nasty notes from the PO because my house number and box number are both listed.

I got my steering valve this week! a.s.a.p. was real good about it and I received the second one they sent, who knows happen to the first one? Been a month long thing but happy to have my parts and getting in the field in a month or so here.

(quoted from post at 16:54:22 03/13/20) I get nasty notes from the PO because my house number and box number are both listed.

You can use them both. But the PO box should be listed last:
Line 1- your name
Line 2- street address
Line 3- PO box no.
Line 4- town, state, zip code

The machines read the line directly above the town as the delivery address. If you list them in that order you should have no problem.

USPS is about out of business anyway. From Businessinsider.com " USPS "is in need of urgent help" from Congress and the White House. By the end of the summer, Maloney and Connolly said, the USPS could shut down unless it receives swift emergency funding."
