Anyone have knowledge of what this engine is. My Grandfather back in the 40?s used it to run a vacuum pump for milking cows.
Thanks, Rich

it sure looks like a Wisconsin . I have an old one like that on my small grain auger, but the spark plug is on the top. it does resemble briggs and Stratton engine also. about 5 h.p.

It's definitely a B/S.

Looks like four rivets on the cylinder shrouding "tinwork" in the first photo that should be holding the data plate in place.

If it's really missing I.D. is a bit more difficult.

Kind of looks like a B&S Model B to me.

Looks like a Briggs & Stratton Model Z or ZZ. Late 30s t0 early 40s. I have a couple of small tractors with that engine.

B&S Model B.

I have a similar engine off an old Bolens tiller. Mine however is a model BR - the "R" I presume for the reduction gear output.

Doesn't look big enough for a ZZ, maybe an A, B or K.They all look similar. My ZZ is 19" tall from the bottom of the mount to the top of the cylinder head. Hope that helps.
