I have a 2013 Ford Edge that the defrost doesnt want to throw hot air.I had the dealer reprogram it or what ever they did. It worked for a year. I u-tubed it and i think if i remember correctly they hold the power button and the defrost button at the same time for 4 seconds and it reprograms the controls. Does anyone know if that is the correct way or not. I dont want to take it back to the dealer.

Here's one for you. There may be a 'blend door actuator' that controls were the heat goes. Try U-tube for info on your unit. HTH

It's not really a reset, but a self diagnostic test. Saying that it might reset the problem you are having though. Hold the power and def buttons for a few seconds, let go of buttons then push the power button again. This puts the module in a self diagnostic mode, it might display trouble codes or just 88-88 for a self test pass.

With all the electronics and sensors involved now, sometimes there is a "glitch" or an unexplained fault occurs and this self test might put the system back to normal. If you have fault codes you should write them down and see if they come back. If you have dual zone temp, you might see if the problem affects both LH and RH side too.

im pretty sure it is the blend door actuator not changing. It use to be cold on one side of the dual climate system and warm on the other, now it is cold on the defrost, but warm on the vents out of the dash.

I despise those computer controlled heater and A/C gizmos. Much easier and more straight forward when you just turned a knob.
