So Call Warranty

Bought a Cub Cadet 7000 a few months ago finally found an original owners manual its 20 years old so obviously no warranty applies now.But from new the warranty exclusions are laughable.Warranty does not cover injection pump, injectors, belts, clutch, brakes.no minor things a long paragraph, the warranty is a joke. Are all new tractor warranties like that?

When you buy a new KUBOTA one thing I always did was sit down and go over that exclusion page.
Clutch, fan belt, injectors ect are called wear items and as such are not covered. Now if you bought one and three weeks latter the fan belt broke, I just put a new one on and ate the cost. Where it really got sticky was a thousand dollar clutch and pressure plate. A few times KUBOTA would cover one under what is called good will policy but most times customer was unhappy when I told them hey you wore out the clutch by riding the foot pedal. Warranties are a now win situation for a dealer in most instances. So many things come up that can be corrected in little time but takes longer to file the warranty claim than what payment the dealer gets. The real kisser is buy shows up with a unit failed say 2 weeks out of warranty . If you give in and lie and go on and cover it what about his brother that show up next week with one 3 weeks out. Hard to draw the line. Kubota has a figure , they know if you sold a million dollars worth of new last year what your warranty claims should be the next year. National averages , I always tried to stay in the middle of that figure. Lots of dealers get in trouble for filling false warranty claims.

I've never seen a warranty cover anything that could wear out within a relatively short time like brakes, belts, etc. That covers a lot of stuff.

Short time? The warranty was for only two years 100 hrs for a homeowner,1 year 100 hrs for a 'for profit' owner guess that means farmers too.Heck I have tractors that are 40 years old with the original clutch and brakes, the WD45 AC my dad bought back in 1957 has thousands and thousands of hrs on it original clutch and has had 1 set of new brakes.Any fan belt that breaks within a couple years and less than 100 hrs is junk I don't care where it comes from.

Well that all may be true but my question is what is the advantage of buying new when almost anything that will happen to the machine isn't covered? I'll bet the majority of people that buy a
new tractor or vehicle for that matter don't realize how little is really covered.I really can't understand the warranty not covering the injectors and injection pump.

I know what you are saying about the old stuff. I own lots of it. Too much stuff today is built for cost and not quality. I typically think of the length of a warranty as the amount of time they expect it to last before issues start. Usually the warranty has just run out before things happen. I can't think of anything that has happened on something I've own over the past 40 years that has broken before the warranty expired - always after. I had a starter on my M built in China with a 1 year warranty and it broke about one week after it expired.

I see no problem with it.

Even new vehicle warranties don't cover wear items like brakes, clutches, belts, etc.

Whatever happened to the guy on here that was having all the Kubota injector issues. I agree most warranty isn?t worth much more than the paper it?s written on .

I had a little B8200 yrs ago & the clutch turned loose at about 60 hrs. Dealer said, "NOT covered by warranty", I said BS. I called Kubota International & played phone tag till I finally got to someone with authority, (factory rep.). After some select conversation he agreed to come down and oversee the tear down and put in a new clutch. Zero cost.....

At least it?s in writing so a person can decipher the legalize and know.

Buy used from a dealer, they promise the world, charge 33% over private/ auction prices, and then you come back a week later with a clearly painted over hidden issue and oh, no, as is, that happened after we sold it, something like that is never covered.....

Having worked at a GM dealer, new car warranties do not typically cover wear items outside of 12M 12K miles. Brakes, belts, spark plugs, oil and filter, etc. Tires are warranted on a prorate by the tire maker.

Warranties cover a lot of things that they don't legally have to just to keep customer happy. When you work at a dealer you see all kinds of crazy stuff. It depends a whole lot on who the dealer rep is and who is doing the repair.

I remember my boss covering a clutch job one time. Customer completely crushed the pressure plate while pulling tractor together. Gave him a new pressure plate, some advice and ate it so to speak.

Also, if a fan belt fails in very low hours, just much simpler to give the guy a new belt than tell him the corn cob that got wedged in there caused the problem. Should have made it so corn cobs could not get in there. And so it goes.

Equipment out of warranty with major failures are the real problem. Always best to talk nice and see how things can be worked out. Blowing your stack might get you a better deal today, but if you are in it for the long haul, it will cost you later. That goes both ways, dealer or customer.

Go buy anything used and see the warranty they try to sell you with them. I had a girl friend one time, thought I should buy a warranty with a truck. I asked about what it covered for her information. About all that was covered was the block and transmission case. Nothing basically was covered in it. After they read it to her she stopped about warranties on things. When I bought my last and first new truck the dealer asked me if I wanted an extended warranty. I said if the things they covered lasted more than the year or milage it would probably be fine for the time of use. The things not covered was longer than the covered. Since I bought the 18 speed trans They would only do the year not the extended for the five years. Some things like wheel seals were for longer than the year also.
