1350 Briggs Stratton

I got this newer Briggs 1350 on a troy built tiller.it belonged to my stepsons father. He passed away a few months ago. I'm trying to get it running so the stepson can sell it.in the picture you can see a wire hanging with some kind of connector on it.it has to plug in somewhere under the fuel tank but I don't see anywhere it could go.it will run on starting fluid but soon dies.the spark plug is still dry so must not be getting fuel. I'm thinking this wire probably has something to do with it. Thanks for any help Rick

Likely, the wire is a .5 Amp unregulated battery charging supply, and can be ignored if not needed.

See .pdf pages 33 and 34 at the link below.

Sounds like you need to clean or replace the carburetor.

THE WIRE YOU SEE PROBABLY HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH FUEL. YOU MORE LIKELY HAVE A PLUGGED LINE OR STUCK NEEDLE IN THE CARB.I WOULD PULL THE BOWL ON THE CARB TO SEE IF FUEL IS PRESENT,THERE IS ALSO A SMALL HOLE IN THE CARB THAT PLUGS. USUALLY THE RUBBER GASKET WILL RESEAL ON THE BOWL.HAS IT BEEN SITTING? IF SO ETHONAL GAS IS PROBABLY THE CULPRIT GOOD LUCK

I agree with carb issues. I have similar wire on B&S I have, I think it goes to the low oil shutdown switch but since you probably don't have one it just hangs. At least that is the case with mine

Could be for charging a battery or the headlight on a snowblower. Are you sure the gas is turned on? I would put fresh gas in it with some Seafoam, and prime it in the carb with mixed gas, and start it up. I have done this many times to neglected engines and rarely do I have to tear a carb apart.

That looks like the same as on my big leaf vacuum. The carb somehow got water in it or the ethanol dropped out but it chewed the carb up. The one pictured all of the way to the left is for these little briggs engines. Can't beat the price. Open the box and screw it on. TA DAAAA. Comes with a couple of extra parts to adapt things.

It's a BS junk it and put something different on. Probably will run better too. Never thought much of a BS engine. Even 360 years ago they were a poor image for an engine. Had those on sprayer pumps last one year and junk.
