Tractor end of implement PTO shaft- the push button type. Spring is apparently broken, and the other end is "blind". I looked at all my other PTO implements, and all have shaft going through the end and a circlip or cotter pin holding it on.

How do I get the pin out to replace the spring? Its on an IH 530 manure spreader. I tried unscrewing it, but that didn't seem to be doing anything.

Most hose ave a small place ?staked? on the edge of the hole to keep the button in, you have to drive the plunger out front the other hole and replace parts, then ?re-stake? it

Have one just like it. Found a small hole inside the splines, but haven't had time to finish finding if that hole is for removing the pin. My pin is wore out. Thought about just drilling the blind end and installing a regular pin. Probably no help, just saying what I have found on mine so for.

Trouble is, there is no "other hole". The end opposite the push button (ie, on the right in the picture) has no hole, so no way to drive out the pin.

My pin is OK, so I may drill through the button end and putting in a cotter pin to keep the pin in position (ie, holding the coupler on the PTO shaft) when in use. Kind of a pain to take a cotter pin out every time I take the implement off, but not a deal breaker.

I know you are getting tired of hearing this but are you ABSOLUTELY certain there is not something like a reversed freeze plug taped in to take a file or wire brush and look hard. Most of those blind side ones have a small cap tapped in the hole you have to remove then clip on the endof thepin to remove the spring.

there are two types of connections and it does not look like the parts interchange. If you look up on the Case International website it lists the parts. Most of them are still available.

These are kind of an early attempt at a "safety" quick attach PTO yoke, and don't have parts protruding as much as some designs to catch clothes or other things to wrap up in the PTO shaft.

As someone else said, the pin is "staked" in place and you can either figure that out to get it apart and replace the spring, or replace the complete yoke.

You would need to figure out the make and series of driveline you have, then you should be able to find a new complete yoke on the 'net for somewhere in the $20 to $75 range.

NOT unreasonable to keep things as safe as you can.

You should be able to figure out what you have checking dimensions against info in the link below.

Clean both ends of the push pin up good. There will probably be a soft plug like deal in the back side holding the spring and pin in. Just knock the pin out the back side and replace. That will knock out the plug when driving pin out.

There "is" a hole there. It is just full of metal shavings. You will have to take them out with a drill. I think one about half the size of the pin would be big enough.

Harold, take a look at this photo, it shows how these pins are typically "staked" in place. NO hole in the other side.

I have one like that that has a small roll pin thru it where the small part of the latch pin is. Drive the roll pin out and the latch pin comes right out.

On the opposite side of the shaft from the push-button there should be a
c-clip (sometimes it looks more like an H) that holds the spring. Maybe the clip got lost and perhaps the spring is awol as well. With the clip off and the spring out of the way tap that end opposite the push-button with the right-sized punch and see what happens.

I know that. what I was suggesting is to actually drill a hole in the other side so you
can drive the pin out. Otherwise you can fiddle around filing grinding or chiseling at
the staked part to get it loose enough to remove the pin.

Looks like the head of a roll pin right where the arrow is my Lely power harrows have the same type of lock pin pith a blind hole once you drive the Roll pin out you can grab the head of the latch pin and pull it out

It's staked, had one like that come apart on my JD flail mower. Lost the pin and spring. I drilled all the way through same size as the pin and now use a bolt and lock nut to hold it on the PTO shaft. Little more trouble to put on and off but it works.

Aaaaaaand, I think we have a winner. SVcummins, the first thing in the morning I'm going to go look at what you pointed out. Sure looks like a roll pin to me, too, in the photo.

That?s how my drivelines are on my power harrow if you take a wire brush to it you should see the head of the pin it looks like one and that?s about the right spot for it to
