Nice Weather

From almost -30 a few days ago we have improved to almost +30 today so I took advantage of it to empty out a canola bin. Semi and a half to sell and I transferred the rest by tractor and wagon over to a different bin. Both the Massey and John Deere on duty. Had a spill or two plus tore some rubber off the drive belt on the small auger when I had it installed wrong. But overall a successful day.

20's-30's deg F here the past few days, ground is frozen, snow pack is thin, perfect for running the tractor around the fields and such to gather firewood. Hauled in some nice dead limbwood from old wild apple trees, I forgot how hot it burns and how it will leave a very nice bed of coals for a long time, place was toasty warm last night. Ready to burn right off the tree !

Enjoyed seeing that. Many frosty winter days in the 1970?s we spent moving milo. Standing on the downwind side of the auger tractor trying to find some warmth.

(quoted from post at 05:23:31 02/22/20) Your idea of nice weather and mine are a whole lot different.
Trust me on this, when you have worked in -20 and high wind chill, it feels positively balmy when the temp gets up near +30 degrees with no wind. I could work without mitts and even had to throw off my parka several times as I was just too hot.

(quoted from post at 03:34:04 02/22/20) Looked like a beautiful day to work outside. When you?ve had a nice day like that, kind of hate to see the sun going down and the day ending. Never know what kind of stinky weather you might get tomorrow.
That's true too. There was a ring around the sun yesterday morning which is not an indicator of good weather. Since the auger engine was set up and still warm I figured best go ahead and get the job done now.
Interesting side note here: this morning's headline in my mail was "Oilseed Prices May Be Set To Soar". So maybe I'll get back that $2 a bushel that I've lost in the past couple of years. That would make the afternoon's work more worthwhile.

Kind of a coincidence. I dream some strange dreams and in a dream recently I and some other fellows were helping you clean old wooden grain boxes for the threshing of small grain - seemed like it was about 1940. So weird !!
