Thanks for the reminder

My insurance company just informed my collision premium on my 05 F150 just went up. I told them tanks for the reminder I want to cancel the collision insurance on my 15 year old pickup. I insure 5 vehicles two houses and half of another from them, then they want to squeeze a few more dollars from me. I was going to cancel the collision, but never got around to it, until they reminded me.Stan

I just slammed into a nice 6-point buck a month ago, leaped right out in front, couldn't go anywhere, totaled the GMC.

I believe hitting a deer falls under comp not collision....

One more payment on the wife's Ram and the insurance gets dropped to liability and comp. I have never had a claim for collision, several on comp over the years.

Collision coverage really isn't that much more out here, they get you on comp and uninsured motorist coverage (which is important with more and more people letting their coverage lapse).

I was once told that you never hit a deer but rather it hit you. Seems silly but I think my old agent told me that. I hate insurance and registration. I have 3 vehicles and a motorcycle insured. I can only run one at a time. At one point i had my drivers license insured but someone put an end to that.

It's a hard decision here in Michigan, because of no-fault insurance. If someone hits you and totals your car, the most you can get from them is $400.

I think that you can tell by where the damage is.

Stan,
I'm insurance poor, pay too much. However, I can't see being without it.
I know people who don't have insurance and a tree have fell on their car. If the tree has a leaf on it, then the person will lose their car. They call it an act of God. A dead tree falls on a car, then the owner of the tree pays.
Liability insurance is required in Indiana. Full coverage is an option. I have had to replace too many front shields, rock chips.
If you can afford to lose your car or truck, then dump the full coverage.

I keep collision on most everything. It's about $50 of a $1000 annual premium. The best part is if I am in a wreck, I file with my insurance co regardless of who is at fault. And let them deal with the other bozos.

No, Farmers Insurance, I will not accept bondo and a spray can repair on a one week old vehicle. You have also guaranteed I will never do business with you.

I dropped collision on my 08 trailblazer last year i have $1000 deductibles on my vehicles so if the traiblazer gets totaled the insurance payout wasn't that much

> That'll change come July

No, I don't think so, Kip. To the best of my knowledge, the change to Michigan No-Fault Insurance is limited to Personal Injury Protection. Collision coverage is unchanged, so if you don't have "broad" collision and somebody slams into your car, you're still SOL.

Basically the "insurance reform" bill threw out the baby and kept the bathwater.
