is it really that stuck, every thing that I can see is removed.is there any thing under the tank that hold it in place? my goal is the hydro pump. not a good start. any help, many thanks

Do you have the front grille panel off and the side panels right behind them off too ? I did our 4020 that way and it takes a lot longer than going out the bottom ! But I did many other things along the way to help promote a longer life from it.

I agree with Tom,, I would rather take a whooping that take the tank off,,and after the tank is off,,you still need to get the plate off...

Sidestepping the issue of whether to remove the pump from the top or the bottom, I had to remove the fuel tank on my early model 3020 diesel last fall. Would not think
late model should be any different. I'm kind of stuck as to why yours wont come out, as removal of the tank was pretty easy. As others have posted, the tough part is
actually re-installing it. Remove hood, remove side panels, disconnect the top fuel line, remove the bottom fuel line, remove lower and upper tank straps, remove air
cleaner, disconnect fuel sender unit. Mine had ALOT of dirt and built up crud around the bottom of the tank, especially between the front grill and the tank. Wonder if
you have the same buildup and it is causing your tank to stick in there? If so a couple of whacks with the heel of your hand would dislodge it, which im sure you have
done. Sorry, thats all I got.

I read that and if doing a complete restoration maybe but if just removing and reinstalling out the bottom is the way to go. Many years ago i could lay under one and balence the pump on legs and put one in alone now I copied TimS and made an arm with a platform for my cherry picker and can once again do them alone. Tom

thanks guys. after I post this morning, I went out and used 4x4 as a wedge, and it broke loose, I did know about taking out it from the bottom, but just wasn't sure I could do it. I mostly work by my self.IT does sound like maybe I should have. Thanks again, Bill

Well now that it is out make sure to clean it up and check it over good. I think the 4020 tank had unpainted spots and had some rust pits starting I soldered up and painted.

It?s been a long long time since I?ve done one I can?t can?t even remember how I did it ? I don?t really like the idea of dropping the pump on my head

That?s the worst part right there you?d think a guy would make some marks to line things up but I never have
