My old farmhand loader need's new leather [or seals] on the main lift cylinders,i need that funnel to get them in the cylinder tubes, what or how has others done it with out the factory funnel, that the dealers use to let the customer use ?

It sounds like you have the cylinder barrels threaded on the inside. The new rubber/plastic packings hold up much better on installation than the old leather types. What I was shown to do,in the mid 70's was to spread bondo on the threads, thinly, and when it dries sand it down to the level of the threads. Then Slide the rod in,with the new packings on it.Run a propane torch around the outside of the barrel while running a pick around the threads. That fudge will peel out of there pretty slick.Just have the butt end of the barrel elevated a little bit so the bondo will tend to fall outward while you peel it.Way easier to do than it sounds.

No actually my barrels are threaded on the outside, and there is a cap-or a stop, or something on there,i was a kid when i last helped my dad put leathers or seals on the tubes of my dads Farmhand !! Mine was built in the the early or mid 50's ! I have had this almost 20 years and never changed them, and it needs them changed bad!

Hope you can find the leathers! Someplace, in my repority of stuff, I have the tool that Dad had to install cylinder leathers. jal-SD

I got a new set, from Baum Hyd supply out of Omaha, but i need to figure out how to make a funnel, to get them in the barrels!

Simply use a piston ring compressor.

Or find someone with a lathe to make you a "funnel", would be no big deal to do that.

That was a thought too! Thanks, i think the ring compressor will work if i get help to align everything up and help push it in!

I have used an empty liter pop bottle as a funnel, cut it where you need to. Never tried the bondo but sounds like a great idea

Do they look like this

Nope mines an f11. I usually just oil them good and they slide right in usually have to persuade it a little with a big hammer on the end of the rod . I just did mine but hit a hard rock under the snow and blew at least one set of them out
