How can I put trickle chargers on the batteries, do I have to remove a cable and charge each one or just put chargers on each battery?
thanks kurt

If the batteries are hooked in parallel, and they would be on that truck because its a 12 volt system and not a 24 volt, just hook the charger onto one battery and it will charge both at the same time.

Put the charger on one battery and it'll charge both. Assuming it's a diesel with the factory battery harness.

Yes, you can use a maintainer to keep both up.

Difference in a trickle charger and a maintainer. A trickle charger, unless it is fully automatic, will over charge if left on too long. A maintainer is only intended for keeping a fully charged battery fully charged under normal storage conditions.

But if they are discharging under normal use, something is wrong. Either there is a problem with the charging system, there is an external drain, or a bad battery.

If one battery is bad, it will drain both.

Unless this is something that sits for months at a time, trying to recharge them is just a temporary fix. And if one is bad, always replace them as a pair. Then save the good one to use on something else with a single battery.

A maintainer (NOT trickle charger!) hooked to either battery will keep both batteries up.

That's what I do with my '99 F250 diesel which sits unstarted 2 - 3 months every winter.

Hello kurt v,

Put the charger on just like the vehicle charges the batteries,

Guido.
