Good job! Lots of work there,
cvphoto5241.png

My 2000 f250 7.3 power stroke has 220,000 some thousand on it, been a great truck, auto tranny never touched, I don?t plow and it?s only towing 6000# at most. I do not run it in winter, idiots put down so much salt, it would probably cost me $65000 to replace this truck with a new 2020 model, and what will I get? A pos, with def, emissions , ect, no thanks I?ll keep this as long as I can!

Good looking rigs jay! I don?t think I?ll want to go much newer than this one so much emissions and computer garbage on them just too much headache when things go wrong I think I?ll look for another 94 to 2002 and keep the ol girls running . All the work I?ve done on this wouldn?t even make 3 payments on a new one

I agree, let some one else get boned on this new crap there churning out, your lucky you don?t live here, the salt just ruins vehicles!

The oem type needle pilot bearing circled in red and the upgraded pilot bearing above this was the old one and had about .030 wear on inside bearing surface compared with the new one

I was listening to a radio program and they were talking about Dodge truck transmissions. There were a couple of years that the transmission didn't get enough oil on fifth gear. Someone said that if you park on a hill and over fill the transmission, it might help.

That?s on the nv5600 6 speed transmission there are several mainshafts available now that are drilled for better lubrication to that bearing but a common fix for that one is Just to overfill by a quart . Garage man was really thinking when they engineered these but then again I had 96 sick five diesel 3/4 ton and it was overloaded with an 18 foot stock trailer with one horse in it had the power to pull it but the springs were flat

This is my 92 dodge 3/4 ton with one horse and a baler on it and the springs still weren?t as flat as the chev running with just a tool box and diesel air compressor in it

I really really like that dump bed on that truck. Before I finally bought a 2 ton dump truck I was contemplating getting one of those hoists

they salt quit a bit here to but I?ve got to drive in it Or go horseback so usually I?ll drive . They use a Lot lot of the liquid de ice here turns everything white

I love the dump bed. Reminds me of 1970 3/4 ton chevy I had with a dump bed. Had the truck for 33 years and put 275000 mile on it.Hauled loads around 2.5 to 3. ton all the time one time I had a 4 ton load. I really miss the old girl. The frame rust so bad had to junk her out. The car dealer ask me want kind of new truck I was looking for I said a new 1970 chey 3/4 ton.

It looks like you got the good out of a lot of those parts. Wouldn't it go better if you lifted it up higher? When I have a big project I sometimes lift it up with my forklift and then crib up to it.

Is that the New Process/New Venture transmission? I had two NP-435's in F-150's, had problems with synchro's in both, was NOT going to buy another NP. Ford fixed that for me, the ZF-5-47 in my '96 F-250 PSD has been great, 312,000 miles and still shifts like new. Replaced the dual mass clutch around 250,000 and three oil/fluid changes is ALL that's ever been done to it in 24 years. Truck was my daily driver for 9 years, 32,000 to 35,000 miles/year. Was the go-to vehicle when we got BIG snowstorms. I've towed heavy a couple times, even with 3.55 gears can idle away from a stop in 2nd gear. Stock rating of 210-215 hp and I was impressed with the way it ran.

I've seen what some people do to little trucks. One day I was working for my buddy helping harvest potatoes, driving truck from farm to field, load along side Harvester, and return. 3 guys show up with s real nice '73 F-350, combination grain/livestock box & hoist. They load 100 bags of spuds, 100# bags. 10,000# in a truck with maybe 5000# capacity over it's empty weight. I had a 25 mile drive home. I had a rough set of railroad tracks to go over about 6-7 miles from home, then stop sign and right turn. Right after the turn there sits that F-350, left rear wheels broke off flush with the oil seal, full floating rear axle, so THAT took a lot. Brake drum, axle flange and both wheels/tires bolted together missing. 2 of the 3 guys scratching their heads. Down the road almost quarter mile the third guy is rolling the tires back to the truck. A BIG truck you can push the load limit a bit, little trucks, NO. I put 3800# in my '78 F-150 with 9 Inch rear axle. I would NOT do that again, I would NOT put that in my F-250!
They make bigger trucks for a reason.

It?s a pretty big job hopefully it?ll keep going round n round . I?d like to go to a 6 speed but the transmission is about 3000.00$ alone

That zf is a good transmission that?s all their is to it. I don?t know what you have to load to snap the axle off a modern dually pickup but it?s a lot

Yes Dana 80 limited slip . I checked for slop In it and there Is absolutely none I couldn?t believe it

I wish I had raised it high enough to sit up under
there at least but I really don?t have a way to . The
thing about this is it cannot fall on me or anyone
else that?s probably the biggest reason I do it on the
ground

Yessir I don?t mind the job when it?s during the off season and it?s not a big deal waiting on and chasing parts it?s hectic when you needed it not to break right in the middle of a job and now your scrambling trying to get it done as fast as possible

I agree fertooos I?ll start looking for another old one
in good shape and buy it . One time through the
shop without warranty on emissions will pay for a
good part of an old one

(quoted from post at 10:32:07 02/17/20) 7.3 are good and I think the 6.7 but no 6.0 or 6.4 liter
The 6.0 are good motors as long as you cap off the EGR and don't put a tuner on them. If you are going to run the snot out of it just plan on having to stud the heads.
