I have a 460 that runs really good after it starts. Only problem is I have to start spraying starter fluid in the air breather and while turning it over continue to spray until it starts.

Open to suggestions. Thanks, and have a nice. day

gas or diesel? If diesel are the glow plugs working?

Rick

Weak spark from a bad coil, bad points, bad gap adjustment on points, fowled plugs, worn plugs. Or the choke is not working, or has a little disk in
the choke plate missing. Jim

Check that you have a good blue/white spark that will jump a 1/4 inch gap or more at the center wire of the cap and at all the plug wires.
Then pull the carb drain plug and make sure you have a good steady flow of gas that will fill a pint jar in less then 3 minutes
When was the last time you check your air cleaner not sure if it is an oil bath or dry filter
Also pull the intake air tube off and hold you hand over the air intake of the carb and see if you get a good suction and gas on your hand. It might even try to start by doing that and if it does then your choke if not working as it should or your carb maybe clogged up a bit

remove the intake hose from carb.check your choke out if its closing. put your hand over the carb intake and crank it over see if it starts.
