Ferguson TED20 getting warm when changed from tvo to petrol

Hi I have a ferguson ted20 tvo, today I have been working it been running lovely on tvo temperatures been good but when I change back to petrol for switch off runs a bit miss firing, then when starting up 10 mins after does seem very sweet as before. Is it because its to hot for petrol, would it start on tvo, thanks

I'm afraid I won't be much help, but I'm curious. Here in the USA we have gas, diesel and LP to run tractors on. I've read about England having TVO, tractor vaporizing oil? I have read that you need to start on gas(petrol) and when warmed up, switch to TVO. That sounds like the old tractors from the 20's and 30's that ran on kerosene or distilate, a much lower octane fuel than gas. Is this correct? Chris

Not sure on the Fergy, but on my petrol/tvo (kero) tractors, there are two fuel tanks. Smaller one is for petrol, larger one is kero. I would look for blocked vent in cap of petrol tank or blocked filter in petrol tank line.

TVO tractors came up to the 1960's. TVO is similar to Kerosene central heating oil with a few more additives. I run a 1952 New Fordson Major and that will start on kerosene or TVO mixture from cold. Your TE20 should start on TVO OK if it is warm and not require a petrol start. Certainly, running on petrol at the end of the days work to clear the system for a cold start is fine.
