Volvo truck will not shut off

I found a guy who will take my Volvo truck to Mexico, It's is no longer hauling cattle, and it can't be operated in California. After sitting for close to 10 years with a new battery it started right up. Only problem it will not shut off. I finally had to choke off the air. Anyone familiar with Volvo trucks, and can tell how the motor is shut off? It's a 87 FE7 That will be great. I am thinking a electric fuel switch like my JD tractor may be bad? (tractor ) Stan

May just be something stuck due to old fuel. I'd let it run for a couple hours and get good and hot, then see if it shuts down.

I know that our mack straight truck will not shut off until it builds enough air pressure to activate the little cylinder that shuts the fuel off.

Stan,
Yesterday I thought of you when I was following a very old triaxle belching black exhaust. That truck needs to be shipped to Mexico too. I had to pull over and wait for the air to clear. Indiana has a law against particular pollution, but no one enforces it.

Do you know what engine it has? It might have a Cummins for example, or a Detroit maybe- or maybe even it has a Volvo engine. The fuel shut off would be different on them. Mark.

Does it have an exhaust brake? That'll usually kill an engine at idle. If it has an exhaust brake there will be a valve on the down pipe. It'll need air up to work.

I have a break down of the shut down system. It's parts only and not service. I can email it but I haven't made enough posts to add a picture to this reply.
