Farmall M video

Got the M unloaded. And drove it around a bit. Needs exercise! But what a nice tractor. First thing I'm gonna do is get that nut, bolt and washers off that draw bar. Sounds like it's gonna rattle apart!

Its a shame to call it used!

I've always been more comfortable unloading with the rig running, if possible- even with poor brakes. But to each his own, said the old lady as she kissed the cow.

Looking @ the video, you have an M that was originally painted with paint that when exposed to sunlight, faded to red-orange or yellow-orange. If video of the left wheel weight shown is in the true "on-ground-color" as shown on the screen, your M had fading paint originally. The left rear wheel & grill are the color that I remember the whole neighbors M was when I was a kid. I don't think many are left as original. jal-SD

That reminds me of two dead M's that I moved with a trailer about as wide as the inside of the fenders on yours. Both wheels were loaded and had one wheel weight each. Had to pull both wheels off and reverse the dish to get on the trailer in the hot July sun. Fortunately my Dad was in his seventies and I was full of p!$$ and vinegar;-) Had to hand winch them on the trailer:-( Yours looks like a nice one, enjoy it!

gonna have to rename younger son Minnie Mo M Mick? nice old M. I have 1944 and 1950 Ms. the 1950 is the third tractor I bought (1977), and I'm only the third owner. they are tough old birds. you won't be able to quietly sneak off from Renee with that bolt jingling on the drawbar.

She needs a tune up, but that's a good looking old M. I will say my local NAPA has been the only place in the last few years to get parts, carb kits, points, etc.

I SURE hope this doesn't cause you to switch brands.... These IH tractors are dandy.... lol

JalSD yep that's pretty close to what we see...yellow. Cleaned the grill and frame on right side a bit and it's definitely yellowish one coat under the faded paint. As much I like shiney red farmalls I'm thinking leave it alone! Decals are real faded bit still there.

Cool deal on the paint! Probably a re-spray @ by a dealer shortly after it started to fade & after all these years, the dealer re-spray is almost gone. I think, if I remember right, the dealers had a deal, if you wanted to repaint. They didn't call it "recall" like it's done now days, but called it a deal-you paid, but not full price. B-T-W, really enjoyed Red Power in Alabama when we were there in '18. You should plan to come to SD in June, you'll enjoy it up here-it'll be hot here, but nothing like you folks had when we were down there. jal-SD

ANYBODY that's been around a running M more that two minutes can recognize that jingling rattle anywhere. If an M won't rattle the loose bolts or hitch pins in the drawbar it's either shut-off or something BAD is wrong with it.

H's won't make than jingling rattle. As a good friend of Dad's who farmed with lots of IH's for 50 years said the day SON & I picked up Dad's '51 M he bought brand new, "An H doesn't have enough Umpff to rattle it's pins". Having spent countless hours on H & Super H, He's right.

That's probably a war year tractor with the paint that faded to an orange/yellow.
