Defiine the word HOBBY

this sounds strange a hobby starts up with the first one that you restore and do. As you do it and you to get it done you start to look back and realize that you want to do more. Yes maybe it is your job does pay nothing but minimum wage. some how that does not stop you from buying another one and keep on doing restoration work. Your budget on bills and your hobby is seat and you now understand that you are hooked in this hobby. I started in 1993 and I am still going on Farm equipment. At first I was in to muscle cars and gave it after every body else got in to them. I can say after 1993 I am up to ten farm tractors here at my house. Allis Chalmers, Case, John Deere and International Harvester. those are the brands I do have in a collection. Thanks to Yesterday tractors I can remember when you started on the internet and yes every body on this spot is great for good information.

You are right. I at one time tried to make a profit or a living in restoration on muscle cars. That never happen because every body try's to get a great deal to buy it cheap. They do not care how munch money you spent on it all they want is a cheap deal to boast about. That is why I left doing cars. My parents inheritance is the this shop. A place that is needed to keep my mind going (mom died to old timers she stop using her mind). I got to keep my going and learning more every day. This is my life support to keep me alive .

Thank you it is well worth the money. It is not the building I first wanted to build but my parents inheritance money. Could afford this one to be built and so I took the shop. this shop is filled right now I have up to four tractor in it and one Willy's. It is a 32 feet wide by 36 foot shop finished and insulated. Bad mistake no heater could not afford to put one I the shop. I did invest in a ventilation system for the shop. Which was a good thinking for me to do because it is needed when I do have an engine running and working on it. ventilation means every thing a must in a shop.

To me a hobby is something I do for fun that makes me no money or go in the hole,if I'm making money at what I do its not a hobby I may really enjoy it but its then an
enterprise.

To me a hobby is doing something you love doing for the sheer love of it. No deadlines, no stress,if you have to sell some / most of the products of your hobby to afford to keep doing it that?s ok. When your doing it counting on income from it and there?s deadlines then it?s not a hobby it?s a side job.

Webster s dictionary states a hobby is "a pursuit outside one s regular occupation engaged in especially for relaxation"

I would summarize That a little different as "something I spend a lot more money on that I will never get back and at some time or another will take me away from my occupation Because I take days of vacation to do it and lastly at some time or another frustrates me to no end but In the long run it ends with something I m really proud of amd like to show off to other people"

I would also question Webster's definition on that relaxation part. Suffering through clean up on a 60 yr old grease encrusted wreck of a tractor is more like a mental illness. Laying in bed trying to figure out why something doesn't work or why it would'nt go together after ten try's. All for hopefully someday the thing will come together as it was originally built and you can have a few hours of driving it around with others saying "nice job".

Yes I agree 100%

I consider a hobby something you do for pleasure just like courting. Doesn't matter that a lot of work comes with it just that it gives you pleasure.

Most of my hobbies have been work. The hardest was probably running a sawmill. Lots of different jobs there are none are easy but I really enjoyed it.
