New Holland TL 80?????

I'm probably gonna pull the trigger on a New Holland TL 80 this afternoon. Anything I need to aware/leary of? It's a 2wd which is less than desirable, but I won't be running it in the winter so I guess I can live with that.

My first thought is why buy something that does not really fit your needs just because it is available at a price that you feel is reasonable. I could not live
with a two wheel drive tractor and would continue to look until something was found that better suited my needs.

Don't pay much is all I would reccomend, 2 WD with cab and air go at auction for 10K or less, open staion 7500, tractor is
allright for what it is but what it is is not a whole lot. I have traded several of the TL series and the smaller TN series
actually sell much better.

I was looking for a kubota last year with a factory cab to replace a 50 hp two wheel drive kubota I had. I figured two wheel drive would be fine but couldn't find a two wheel drive new or used. I spend the extra money and got a new four wheel drive model. I didn't figure I needed it but can sure tell the difference when I use the four wheel drive. Glad I got it now and long forgot about the extra cost to get it. I do have a couple smaller kubotas with four wheel drive but didn't figure I needed it on a bigger model.

Thanks for the replies. I have a 4wd loader tractor already. I mostly want to run a disc mower and speed rake. It has a FEL. Having another tractor around with a FEL will be handy. 4wd not necessary for what I'll use it for.

This is making me think it's not the bargain I had in mind......2000 hours, 2wd, loader, shed kept, everything works, tires look 80% or better.

Where on earth are you buying an 80 hp cab tractor even without fwa for $10,000? I don't know anything about that model of tractor but if I could find a nice cab tractor to feed cattle I'd jump on it for that price.

Should be solid tractor in general.

2wd and AC cab is perfect for haying.

What loader is on it?

Doubt you'd ever find one that nice at that good of a price in my area. And if you don't need 4WD why get it especially working in hay 2WD handles better and 4WD requires more maintenance usually.

In my part of the country is definitely is not a bargain. Just NO one wants a two wheel loader
tractor period at what ever price. All I can say if you git it love it because reselling it or
trading it will be difficult to get your money back.

For hay work I think it would be perfect for you: a little cheaper and a little easier on the hay fields.

It?s more of a ?real? size tractor you can load down the rear weight and it will make a fine loader for picking bales. (The size smaller and even smaller tractors the
wheelbase gets so short, it gets difficult to keep the rear end planted even weighted a little bit.)

Now, if you wanted to lug out tree stumps, and scoop sloppy manure and push snow all winter, and use it like a bulldozer as many folk try to do. Then the 2wd is a
weakness.

But to run over hay fields, and occasional 2nd class loader work in a hay field, it would be the real deal at a bargain.

Would even make a good snowblower tractor, having a little less traction helps prolong the life of a snow blower!

I can see both sides of it anyhow.

I went ahead and got it. 2000 hours and I just couldn t see finding one any cheaper.

I've got the CaseIH equivalent and love it. Mine is 2wd. with rops. I use it in summer for haying and with 2wd. it is sure handy on mower and rake. They turn so much shorter then fwa. Mine also spends an
awful lot of hours on the augers. Without cab I can start tractor and auger from ground and that gets more appreciated every year I get older.

At auction and on auction time from time to time, not dealer lots, a 2 WD TL80 has about 45 Drawbar HP and maybe 60 PTO HP. Several NH models have a low ration engine/drawbar but the TL series is worse than most.

Looks like a nice machine to me. It'd
been handy for me today feeding cattle.
As long as you're happy with it that's all
that matters.

I sure get a lot of work done without mfwd would it
be nice at times I suppose it would but for the price
I really don?t ever see one coming here anytime
soon

66 PTO HP according to my sales lit.

They are a big heavy tractor compared to others. Almost like comparing a compact and utility of the same HP to each other.

Power to weight ratio may be lower than others, but they are solid. Put a lot of hours on the same series of tractor.

More iron in it than I?d have thought should be a
really nice tractor could always put some cast
weights in the rear wheels or even liquid death I
suppose If it wasn?t quite heavy enough .

Good looking out fit at a good deal in my opinion.I run my 4WD tractors in 2WD about 99% of the time anyway. Its nice when I need it but got along just fine with
only 2WD tractors all my life until about 10 years ago.Never use the 4WD making hay, mostly used to scrap snow and pulling logs up in the mountain.I think 4WD has gotten so popular because the new tractors are so lacking in weight they won't do anything in 2WD.

You remind me of the AGCO dealer in Crewe VA,I asked him if he gets in many Long tractors,he said he hauls all the Long tractors straight to scrap because no one would buy them.I dropped my card on his desk and told him we could do business all he needed to do was to call me when he got a Long and I'd come pick it up and pay double what the scrap yard pays. That was about 15 years ago no Longs from him yet.(LOL)

I'd like to find one of those too.....

Blew his story right out of the water. That's hilarious. Worth nothing if he's buying, worth small fortune if he's selling.

Looks nice. I think several said it?s a good deal, but I missed what the asking price was. Maybe you didn?t say and that?s fine too, I?m just confused.
