2140 JD and snow

Had a few heavy snow spots in my yard so I thought I'd get them cleared up a bit this evening. I have to say that the front end loader is not great for clearing
roads. Takes forever as the snow keeps running off each end of the bucket. If I was going to do much snow removal with it I'd adapt a blade to install instead of
the bucket. I should have got the old Case 730 going with the angled blade and would have had the snow moved a lot quicker. But I would have had to move the John
Deere out of the way to get at the Case.

As far as moving snow with a bucket I would rather chew on a ball of tinfoil. A blower gets my vote and with a 2140 like yours you have a good selection of reverse speeds to work with.

I agree. I only used the front end loader because it was the easiest one to start at short notice. It left some piles of snow that will catch more next time it storms. The 2140 has 4, actually 8 reverse speeds, so it is plenty slow enough for the snowblower. I'll likely get it installed before winter ends. Unless we don't get any more significant snowfall. This video from March of 2018 shows it handling the snow here in my yard. That little Mckee 6 foot blower is only rated for up to 45 hp so I'm pushing my luck with this tractor, but so far its ok.
