last spring i planted both yellow and white dutch clover pollinator patches at the farm, grew well. so this year, do i mow off all the old plants in the spring, burn off all the dead plants, or disk it up? i did also mix wildflower and pollinator flowers with the mix too. i was also thinking, maybe mow it off, broadcast more seed, then hit it a couple times with a rotary hoe. any thoughts? here is a couple pics from last year

Landscaper I know that puts in wildflower patches cuts them with a flail mower in the Winter to scatter the seeds.Uses a flail mower because a brush hog type mower piles things up and does't scatter the seeds evenly.

I hit mine with a bush hog in the Fall after it freezes. I scatters the seeds and don,t bunch up, but I cut a little higher. It's working good with the Bee Bulm.

Looks like the same stuff planted in a 6 or 8 foot boarder around the roof of the building where my daughter works in Chicago. Across the street from a new Google building.

They probably paid big time for that.Landscaper friend says the wildflower fields at some of the vineyards around the area can cost up to $5,000 an acre to put in,some of the seed is incredibly expensive.

i got a price on 50 pounds of native pollinator seeds for this year.........850.00 for a 50 lb bag, sheez!

Both yellow and white dutch clover are perennials. If you just leave them alone, they should come back very well this second season.

I have white clover in food plots that was seeded 4 years ago. Grass is the biggest enemy of clover, keep the grass at bay and the clover will last a long time.

If you REALLY want to increase the attractiveness to pollinators, add some Crimson clover. Now crimson is an annual, so in most places it needs to either seed itself out completely (so no mowing it) or it needs to be re-seeded each year, but it has amazing attractive scent and color. Bees and humming birds LOVE red!

Crimson clover is part of our best selling food plot blend, Mega Clover Plus and in new plots the first year they are just alive with bees when crimson is in bloom. Also, I believe cows can smell crimson clover a mile away. The only time my neighbor's cows have ever gotten into my food plots was when the crimson was in bloom. They unlatched my gate and let themselves in and boy did they make a mess out of the clover plots.
