John Deere snowmobile

There is this John Deere sled in a swamp, it has been there for a long time. I don?t know when it was left or Why it wasn?t pulled out. It is in there pretty deep. I would like to know some information on this sled as I don?t know much about them. Nobody has taken anything other that seat the light and the seat, I would also be interested in knowing if anyone still makes parts for these.

I had a new JD 300. Was a 1978 or 1979, I think it was the smallest twin cylinder
JD had at the time.

Was faster Thant the 400 tho.

Got mine, hasn?t run in a long time. Fuel line got brittle.

JD sunk a lot of money into sleds for just a few years. They did it primarily by going after the endurance race circuit, where they did extremely well for a few seasons. I have read that their larger ones are hard to find and can be worth a lot, but your 300 is a small early one and would not be likely to bring a lot. The motor is probably a Kohler and parts for it should be easy to find.

Your 300 would have been a 73 or 74

I worked in the JD shop in International Falls MN, the winter of 72-73, they had sold a few, and they didn't come back for repairs. I remember them having CCW engines.
