Blood drive

Last weekend a guy was duck hunting with friends when his dog shot him in the lower back at close range. Coast guard responded to cable lift him out of the boat and transport to a local trauma hospital.

They are having a local blood drive for him today to try and replace at least some of the blood he has used.

While a tragic accident this also drives home gun safety rules and how we will let anyone own a gun.

So do we outlaw guns or outlaw dogs? ;-) Sorry, I couldn't resist.
I've given many gallons of blood in my life. Back when I lived in Dallas, I donated platelets because I was CMV negative, which was important to infants and burn victim recipients. I'll leave that explanation to the medical profession in this group.
I'll remember this guy the next time I donate.

That is too bad, but have heard that before if safety not on, dog catches trigger in paw.

Prayers for him.

To some that don't believe, I knew someone that leaned a shotgun against the car and it fell over and shot his dog.

I have heard about triggers getting caught in the fence.

I grew up with pumps, I have a very nice Benelli, but am not comfortable with it, want to get a 12 gauge 870.

I also knew someone that was bird hunting with friends, walking three abreast, him in the center, across a field. He was cradling his automatic shotgun in his arm when it discharged propelling it behind them where it discharged again, no one was injured.

Did the gun go off with the safety on?

Yeah, the cops can't prosecute an animal, stuff happens, maybe the dog's name was Cheney?

He should have bought the companion book to this;

(quoted from post at 08:27:22 01/25/20) I assume the dog did not own the gun? But that a loaded and ready to fire gun was carelessly left where it could be knocked around?

We all have accidents - some mistakes/accidents cost more than others. I have a hard time blaming the victim, particularly where there seems to be no one else hurt. We ahve all been guilty of being careless - it is just that we generally get away with it.

A coworker's father was fatally shot while hunting- he appears to have leaned his gun on a page-wire fence and climbed over, only knock the gun down and discharge it. He was an extremely experienced hunter, gun store owner and local hunting-show TV host, who made a fatally poor decision one afternoon. It, quite literally, CAN happen anyone.

I'm glad to hear this guy survived, and that blood donation is big amongst YT folks. I would have guessed as much.

John,
Look at all the posts on tractor talk that have absolutely nothing to do with Tractors.

I don't care. I've done the same thing a few times. So what?

That said look at how many people will give me heck asking what my post has to do with tractors?

I see nothing wrong with your post.
George
