Went to St Johns island today, here is picture looking down on beach we went to.

We took the shuttle once we got there, glad we did, hills and curves much worse than St. Thomas.

Seeing those pics makes me want to go back. If you get a chance go to water island and rent a golf cart and spend the day exploring.
 
Yes, went out snorkeling on that beach.

It was an adventure, the coral was about 100 yards out from the beach, I was pretty well worn out after swimming out to it, and worried I had enough to swim back. so did not get much time for it.
 
Looked at your picture. What always gets me is the color of the water. Another is how crystal clear it can be. Also such pretty fish. Now up here you got half ars ugly fish, muddy or cloudy water, and always dull icky looking water. Years ago I was down at Canaveral and st.pete for a shuttle launch. What pretty water. You are swimming in bathtub. Nice and warm.
 

Spent two weeks in a villa up in the hills of St. John back in 2002....one of the cleanest and prettiest islands I've ever seen.
As I recall, we drove on the "wrong" side of the road but the steering wheel was on the "correct" side of the car.
Some Islands like Barbados and St. Lucia, the steering wheel is also on the "wrong" side.
You find yourself turning on the wipers a lot in the beginning when attempting to use the turn signals.
You kinda get used to it.
 
I recall an underwater self-guided snorkel trail on one of those beaches. We were there in 1977. Got doozy of a sunburn on the back of my legs. Aloe Vera saved the vacation.

When I was there that snorkeling trail had brass plates on the sea floor to guide you along.
 
My wife wants to travel this summer if we can. She has been talking about Belize. With so many places that are un-safe, or sketchy at best to travel to, maybe this place would satisfy her
 
Greg, wife and I are considering the same. Check out Ambergris Cay, Placencia.
Penninsula east of the coast. Big jet to Belize City, Then puddle jumper to
Placencia. La Isla Bonita !
